The Rosette Nebula (Caldwell 49) is a massive, roughly 100-light-year-wide emission nebula and star-forming region located ~5,000 light-years away in the constellation Monoceros. Its, radiant pink, flower-like shape is sculpted by intense radiation from young stars in the NGC 2244 cluster, which have carved a cavity in the center of the cloud.
