Hope you're all doing well under the circumstances, not the start of the year we were hoping for.
Some pictures from the woodlands around my new home on the banks of Loch Eil near Fort William. It really is a dream to live in such beautiful surroundings.
Stay safe and have a good weekend folks.

It's been a while folks. Despite the circumstances I hope everyone is doing well.
Some may remember I took a time out from photography to concentrate on a house build. Due to the virus the build understandably took longer than anticipated but we got there in the end. Claire couldn't have put more hard work, energy and soul in to it if she tried. For that I'm eternally grateful and thankful.
With much of the stress lifted and a clear mind mostly free of the build I could properly explore my new local patch with camera in hand rather than just wandering about looking from afar.
I'm fairly pleased with the results despite being a little rusty but with the colour changing I'm looking forward to future opportunities to photograph the beautiful woodland areas around me.

I ask those who love the sea to join the challenge of posting a picture of a beach. Just a pic, no description. The goal is to flood FB with positive photos instead of negativity. Please copy the text, put a picture and look at some beautiful pictures 🏖️

A wee picture I've never posted before from a long time ago. It's been a very quiet year for me photographically speaking what with other projects in hand, namely building a house.
With a busy period ahead I've decided to skip this season to concentrate on other things. If an opportunity arises I'll head out but pictures aren't my number one priority this year like they were in previous years.
With that in mind I wish you all a safe season, mind the mountains can bite you in the arse in a heartbeat so please stay safe and happy picture taking.
See you all next year. :)

For those who follow Greg Whitton's vlogs you'll know he's been producing his Quickshotz series. Greg kindly asked if I wanted to contribute a portfolio to No'4 in his series which I gladly accepted along with Claire Ashmore and Andrew Atkinson.
The first part of Greg's vlog concentrates on a critique section where viewers send in a picture and Greg tears strips off them. LOL...only kidding, Greg casts his experienced discerning eye over the pictures offering constructive critique. I found it an interesting exercise watching someone else offer critique on a picture which isn't there own.
The latter part of the vlog involves my own, Claire's and Andrew's portfolios.
If you haven't already give Greg's Utube channel a subscription while you're there. His page is full of useful information on technique and locations along with some light hearted humour.

Well, here we go, the 4th in my series of featuring inspirational photography from folks outside of the YouTube sphere. This month we've got Multiple Exposur...

Haven't posted anything in a long time, haven't taken a picture in a long time. Apologies for my lack of activity, had other things to do and other things on my mind.
Had to look out an older picture for someone which I wasn't entirely happy with so did a quick re-do. Much happier now.

Didn't much like this at first, got much better on the day, but seeing it again after such a long time I do. Claire says it reminds her of an old grand father with his grand son having a day out.

Tidying up some files and sorting out some prints and found this which I quite like. Looking out over Loch Linnhe towards the hills of Ardgour. Don't remember taking it but looks like it's from the bus stop at the junction to the Kinlochleven low road. Must have been a stop and grab shot when on the way home from Glencoe one morning a couple of years ago.

With nothing in the way of new pictures to mess about with I keep returning to the backlog. Quite like this one of Achtriochtan with early autumn colour, fleeting light and the water obscured by the reeds.
Waiting for the light to land on the foreground and background trees gave the opportunity to shoot the mood and mist happening high up in the gullies and peaks of the Aonach Eagach Ridge with the long lens. Two completely different shots taken at the same time and location.

Not very seasonal but it's never really felt like winter up here. Especially lately, although there is a slight glimmer of hope with a small dusting on the summits today.

One from a while back, like years ago. Mist in the glen below, first light just hitting the summit of Bidean nam Bian in the distance.
Tim's fault, he was asking for pictures from a certain viewpoint and I discovered a small treasure trove of forgotten pictures in the archives.
