Sunrise at Lady's Tower, Elie, Fife

“There's a sunrise and a sunset every single day, and they're absolutely free. Don't miss so many of them.” - Jo Walton

Lady’s Tower at Elie Ness was designed and built around 1760 for Lady Janet Anstruther who used it for changing before going for her daily swim. A bell was rung to warn the locals to stay away while she bathed.

Happy Fathers Day Pops!

Loch Lomond (Scottish Gaelic: Loch Laomainn - 'Lake of the Elms') is a freshwater Scottish loch which crosses the Highland Boundary Fault, often considered the boundary between the lowlands of Central Scotland and the Highlands. The Loch forms part of the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park which was established in 2002.

Loch Lomond is 36.4 kilometres (22.6 mi) long and between 1 and 8 kilometres (0.62–4.97 mi) wide, with a surface area of 71 km2 (27.5 sq mi). It is the largest lake in Great Britain by surface area.

Loch Lomond is a popular leisure destination and is featured in the song "The Bonnie Banks o' Loch Lomond". The original author is unknown. One story is that the song was written by a Scottish soldier who awaited death in enemy captivity; in his final letter home, he wrote this song, portraying his home and how much he would miss it. Another tale is that during the Jacobite rising of 1745 a soldier on his way back to Scotland during the 1745–46 retreat from England wrote this song. The "low road" may be a reference to the Celtic belief that if someone died away from his homeland, then the fairies would provide a route of this name for his soul to return home. Within this theory, it is possible that the soldier awaiting death may have been writing either to a friend who was allowed to live and return home, or to a lover back in Scotland.

🎶 Oh, ye'll tak the high road, and I'll tak the low road,
And I'll be in Scotland afore ye;
But me and my true love will never meet again
On the bonnie, bonnie banks o' Loch Lomond. 🎶

The 'Ceol Mor' at Plockton.

This old fishing boat has certainly seen better days but it does make an interesting subject with Loch Carron in the background.

The village of Plockton in Wester Ross is widely regarded as one of the area's most popular visitor attractions. This is due in no small part to its charming seaside setting, the road following the bay with all the cottages strung out like pearls on a strand. Palm trees grow in the seaward gardens and small yachts bob about in the sheltered waters of the bay. No wonder then, that Plockton village is considered by locals to be the jewel in the Highland crown.

The Brough of Birsay is an uninhabited tidal island off the north-west coast of The Mainland of Orkney, Scotland, in the parish of Birsay. It is located around 13 miles north of Stromness and features the remains of Pictish and Norse settlements as well as a modern light house.

The earliest settlement on the island is thought to have been in the 6th century, perhaps by Christian missionaries. In the 7th and 8th centuries it was a significant Pictish fortress, but by the 9th century the Picts had been displaced by Norsemen.

Today, many of the remains of the settlement are visible. The most significant being the remains of a fine, though small Romanesque church. This dates back to the 12th century and was dedicated to St. Peter.

Is there anything better than a sunrise at Balmedie Beach? 🌅
It was an 04:00 alarm to catch this light, but looking at these textures and the way the sun hits the water... I’d say it was 100% worth it!

Check out the video and the photo to go with it. Was it worth the early rise? 👇

Not sure what’s worse- The 856 likes so far or the few comments from some believing it’s real!

Eilean Donan (Scottish Gaelic: Eilean Donnain) is a small tidal island where three sea lochs meet, Loch Duich, Loch Long and Loch Alsh, in the western Highlands of Scotland.

The castle was founded in the thirteenth century, and became a stronghold of the Clan Mackenzie and their allies the Clan Macrae. In the early eighteenth century, the Mackenzies' involvement in the Jacobite rebellions led in 1719 to the castle's destruction by government ships. Lieutenant-Colonel John Macrae-Gilstrap's twentieth-century reconstruction of the ruins produced the present buildings.
