Six women.

Six women who, in one way or another, told me they didn’t feel comfortable having their photo taken.

And yet… LOOK AT THEM.

This is why I will bang on forever about the fact that being “photogenic” is not some magical quality you’re either born with or you’re not.

It’s about feeling comfortable.
It’s about being given a little direction.
It’s about good light, good conversation and forgetting, even just for a moment, that there’s a camera pointing at you.

And THIS is the bit that means the most to me…

“I’ve never liked having my photo taken and have always felt so self-conscious, but you really did make me feel so at ease and I enjoyed the morning. I’ve never had nice photos of myself, so it’s finally lovely to have some.”

Closely followed by…

“We might lose Sue to a modelling career.”

And while we’re here, a little shoutout for the women themselves.

These guys are accountants. And if you’re running a business and want accountants who are approachable, down to earth, friendly and incredibly knowledgeable…the sort of people you can actually talk to, where no question feels like a silly question…these are your women!

Which is EXACTLY what I think these photographs say about them too.

Honestly, my work here is done.

You do not need to learn how to be photogenic.

You just need a photographer who knows how to help you see yourself differently.

A few of the brilliant faces from

So many founders, business owners, speakers, big thinkers and generally bloody lovely humans stepped in front of my camera over the two days.

Ideas Fest, day two. DONE.

And to say I’m exhausted would be a slight understatement.

What one hell of a week of photography — and I’m so bloody grateful for it.

The last two days have been full of photographs, conversations, learning, laughing, familiar faces, brand new faces and meeting some genuinely incredible people. I’ve come away with a very full camera roll, a slightly empty social battery and lots to think about.

And it turns out speaking on stage isn’t quite as terrifying as I’d convinced myself it was going to be. Who knew?! 😂

To everyone who jumped in front of my camera for a headshot over the last two days — THANK YOU. The gallery will be going live at some point next week. As you can probably imagine, I have rather a lot of work to do first!

Day one of Ideas Fest… DONE.

And what a day.

So many amazing headshots of some seriously brilliant founders and people in business.

I’ve spent the day in the Female Founders Unfiltered tent listening to some incredible conversations. I’ve learned, I’ve laughed, I’ve met some bloody lovely people and I’ve snapped away to my heart’s content.

There have been plenty of familiar faces too, which has made it even better.

Days like today remind me just how much I love what I do…meeting people, hearing their stories and getting to capture a little bit of who they are along the way.

Now to charge absolutely everything - cameras, batteries and myself - ready to do it all again tomorrow.

I may not photograph quite as many weddings these days… but boy, do I love it when I do. 🤍

A few sneaks from Ben & Amy’s absolutely gorgeous day at Horwood House Hotel & Spa | Buckinghamshire .

The people. The emotion. The chaos. The belly laughs. The little moments happening in between all the big ones. Wedding days really are some of the very best days to photograph and this one was an absolute beauty.

I’m still here for weddings, just fewer of them. I keep my wedding availability limited these days so I can give each one everything I’ve got (and still have a life outside of my camera).

So if you’re planning a wedding and want relaxed, natural photographs that actually feel like you and your people, give me a shout.

I’ve been eyeing up a new lens for quite some time and, with a ridiculously busy week ahead, I finally decided it was time to invest.

I’ve got a family shoot, a wedding, a kitchen interiors shoot, two days at Ideas Fest AND a vow renewal coming up in the next 10 days… so it’s definitely going to earn its keep pretty quickly.

Obviously, the minute it arrived I needed to try it out.

Unfortunately the only subjects available at home were the dogs.

Who SULK the second the camera comes out.

Honestly, you’d think I’d asked them to do something truly terrible rather than just sit there and look vaguely in my direction for 30 seconds.

So perhaps not the most enthusiastic test subjects for my lovely new lens… but I can already tell it’s going to be a little bit magic.

Sorry boys. Occupational hazard of living with a photographer.

Well hello…If you’re new here, or you’ve been lurking for years and have forgotten who I actually am, this feels like a good place to start.

I’m Jodie. Photographer, small business owner, mum, crazy chicken lady, reluctant-but-apparently-quite-enjoying-it public speaker and firm believer that “I’m just not photogenic” is absolute bu****it.

I’ve been doing this photography thing for over 20 years, but both my business and I are still evolving.

These days, brand photography has well and truly stolen my heart…but alongside the pictures, I’m becoming increasingly fascinated by confidence, visibility and the way we see ourselves.

Because photography has taught me something I come back to again and again:

It’s not always what we see. It’s how we see it.

So this little corner of Instagram is a mixture of beautiful people doing brilliant things, behind-the-scenes business life, photography, confidence, occasional chaos and probably more chickens than strictly necessary.

A weekend in photos… photographer style.

Although, plot twist — every single one of these was taken on my phone. Because sometimes the best photos aren’t the perfectly composed ones. They’re just little snapshots of life as it’s happening.

We’ve had the loveliest weekend being Auntie and Uncle and spending some proper time with our niece and nephew, who live down in Brighton, so we don’t get to see nearly as much of them as we’d like.

And we packed A LOT in.

Hot tub dips, a trip to Crumbs, blackberry picking, homemade crumble eating, BBQs, cricket, plenty of chaos and lots of laughs.

Nothing particularly fancy. Just one of those really lovely weekends that reminds you how important it is to make the time when you can. 🫶🏻

And, naturally, I documented it all. Because photographer or not, I’m incapable of doing anything else.

Before the wedding day, there’s one thing I always hope my couples leave with after their pre-wedding shoot…

Confidence. 🤍

Ben and Amy were completely honest from the start and admitted that neither of them really enjoys having their photo taken. It’s something I hear all the time.

But here’s the thing… you don’t need to know how to pose. You don’t need to feel confident. You don’t need to be “photogenic.”

You just need to trust me.

We spent an hour wandering in the most beautiful golden evening light, chatting, laughing, moving, and forgetting there was even a camera between us. By the end, they were completely relaxed, and I think these photos speak for themselves.

This is exactly why I love pre-wedding shoots. They’re not just about creating beautiful photographs before the big day. They’re about helping you realise that having your photo taken doesn’t have to feel awkward, and that you probably look far more natural and beautiful than you’ve ever given yourself credit for.

Now, with just over four weeks to go until the wedding, I know they’ll arrive feeling excited rather than nervous about the camera… and that means we can spend even more time capturing the moments that really matter.
