The European Bison has a close resemblance to their American cousin but are completely different and separate species. They are the heaviest wild land animal in Europe, weighing between 400-1,000kg and standing up to 2 metres tall.

The Bison belongs to the bovine family which includes cattle, both males and females possess horns. They have a very distinctive, muscular hu**ed shoulder and short legs. 🦬

The Fallow Deer, seen here at Wildwood Kent in their woodland setting. Fallow deers are highly adaptable, and live in deciduous woodland, shrubland, grassland, pasture and agricultural areas.

A Fallow deer would eat a variety of plant material such as herbs and acorns, however 60% of their diet is grass.

Here’s one of the three resident European Brown Bears at Wildwood Kent. Brown bears occupy a huge range of habitat types, from temperate rainforests, arctic scrublands, and coastal areas even to dry desert edges which is thought to enable them to exploit a wide variety of food items seasonally like vegetation and meat.
