Why I'm a full service photographer (and why it matters to you)
When you book me, you're not just booking a photographer for an hour. You're getting the whole experience, right from your session all the way through to beautiful finished products you can actually hold, hang on your walls, and keep forever.
And that goes for everything I do. Whether it's your brand new baby, your squishy six month old who's just found their smile, your cheeky toddler who won't sit still, or the whole family together. Every session gets the same love and attention. And it doesn't stop once we've had our time together.
I want to be honest with you about digital files. They have their place, I'm not saying they don't. But a folder of digital images is just a collection of pixels at the end of the day. It's not a photograph. And I'm a photographer.
A lot of people come to me asking for all the digitals, or just the digitals, and I completely understand why. It's become the norm. But that's largely because cheap, inexperienced photographers who can't compete on quality have made it the norm. Offering hundreds of digital files for next to nothing is an easy way to make people feel like they're getting a great deal. You're not getting a great deal. You're getting a lot of pixels and no prints, and ten years from now you'll wish someone had done things differently for you.
Sending over a gallery link and calling it a day feels a bit like a baker handing you a bowl of batter and telling you to finish the cake yourself. The hard work is done but you've been left to sort out the rest on your own. That's not what I want for the people who trust me with these moments.
Prints and wall art are future proof. Digital files really aren't. Formats change, hard drives fail, phones get lost. And how many photos are already sitting on your phone that you haven't looked at in months or years?
Photos are meant to be seen. On your walls, in an album, in your hands. Not buried on a hard drive somewhere never seeing the light of day.
There's also just something really lovely about handing someone their printed photographs. The reaction you get in that moment is something you never get from sending a download link. That moment is one of my favourite parts of what I do. Aria's mummy cried happy tears when she saw her prints for the first time, saying 'I didn't expect them to be this good' and that made my heart so happy.
So yes, I'm a full service photographer. Because your family and these memories deserve more than a digital file.
