Inspiration behind my latest project :)

Rebecca Gregory's inspiration "I am inspired by the work of Cindy Sherman because of her ability to transform her identity into any character making herself anonymous in the process. She uses simple backgrounds to take the focus of the viewer to the character she had produced. She has accumulated props from thrift stores as this is more affordable and she could greater access the clothing that was needed for the character. I have used a simple black background and props and costumes for thrift stores in my project, I have also centre myself in the frame, and have closely cropped my images."

Cinderella Reimagined explores the role gender plays within the characters of Disney’s Cinderella. This series of self-portraits transforms my identity to portray the ten different characters within Cinderella, both male and female. The social politics of the time in which Cinderella was made meant that gender was binary, and now that we are in the 21st century, gender comes in different forms and this should now be reflected in the media.
