The house and gardens at Sezincote are like no other, an Indian palace dropped into the heart of the Cotswolds, but complimented by that quintessential country style planting mixed with a touch of the exotic.

I was so honoured to be approached by Cotswolds Cloche who have graced their recent cover and inside feature using my photography of this wonderful place.

Glorious winter sunshine, the first time in what felt like an eternity and the snowdrops garden at .farm was looking glorious!

This beautiful Arts and Crafts style garden perfectly placed on the edge of an open landscape contained many rooms of delight. From the neatly presented terrace, with triangular beds of fascinating Galanthus varieties to the intriguing hidden areas, enticing visitors inside with scents of Daphne and Sarcococca - such heady aromas 😍
At the boundary, a Bog Garden full of anticipation for the new season and a gentle stream bubbling through links to an open paddock and orchard offering a wonderful place to sit and pause and drink in spectacular valley views.

Open on special occasions and in conjunction with the gardens are well worth seeking out for late winter wanderings and the promise of a new season to follow.

Very much looking forward to seeing the garden in full bloom this summer!

Newark Park is one of the best smaller historic properties cared for by the National Trust - and it’s a pure joy to photograph. January is made for winter walks and every year it’s become a tradition to visit this beautiful place, to enjoy the brisk air and absorb the tranquil setting - where the views are incredible across the Ozleworth valley below. It’s also the place where I always spot the first snowdrops - must be the perfect micro climate and positioning here that brings these delightful blooms into sight.

A landscape as frozen in time as the gothic mansion that occupies it. Woodchester is an enchanting place to explore, a mysterious story of a house that was never finished, located deep in a wooded valley that barely sees the winter sun.

It’s a curious tale of why it was built here in the first place, perhaps the sense of isolation and the remoteness appealed. Something I can certainly identify with, but would have to hike to the hills above to catch some rays of light.

From outside, the Victorian facade, designed by Benjamin Bucknall appears complete, but internally it is an empty shell - no floors, plastering, doors or details exist other than the bare architectural bones on display. A perfect educational resource and ideal for those interested in learning historical construction methods.
