My match photos from Bromsgrove Sporting 2-0 Nuneaton Town in the The Emirates FA Cup First Qualifying Round.

A tough test against opposition from the step above. The Town matched Bromsgrove in the first half and were unlucky to not have been awarded a penalty for a handball in the box.

The road to Wembley for Nuneaton continues next Saturday to Matlock in the FA Trophy.

Happy World Photography Day! 📸✨

Today, 19th August, we celebrate the art, science, and history of photography. and as a sports photographer, it’s a day that hits especially close to home.

For me, sports photography is all about split seconds, freezing raw emotion, peak performance, triumph, and heartbreak in 1/2000th of a second. But it wasn’t always this fast!

When sports photography began in 1843 with a posed calotype portrait of a badminton player, long exposures made live action impossible.

It wasn’t until Eadweard Muybridge’s 1878 horse-in-motion experiments that we learned how to truly freeze speed on camera.

Why 19th August?
Today marks the anniversary of 19th August 1839, when the French government purchased Louis Daguerre’s patent for the daguerreotype and gifted it free to the world.

Around that same time, British scientist William Henry Fox Talbot pioneered the calotype (paper negative) process.

Daguerre gave us the first practical photo, but Talbot gave us reproducible prints. Without his breakthrough, sports photojournalism and action prints in mass media wouldn’t exist as we know them today!

A Explosive Era for Photography
To put into perspective how far the medium has come: humanity now takes an estimated 3.7 million photos every single minute—that’s roughly 61,000 images per second and over 5 billion every single day!

A Huge Shout-Out to ALL Photographers!
Whether you’re a seasoned pro on the sidelines, a wildlife explorer, a portrait artist, a hobbyist with a DSLR, or someone who loves capturing everyday magic on a smartphone, happy World Photography Day! Every single one of us plays a part in documenting our world and humanity.

Spent years photographing podium finishes, so it feels good to step onto one myself! 🥈📸

Proud to receive a BIPP Silver Award for this split-second surface tension capture at a City of Coventry Swimming Club meet.

What is the BIPP?
The British Institute of Professional Photography (BIPP) is one of the industry's most respected qualifying bodies.

Unlike standard online photo contests, entries are peer-reviewed by master judges against strict technical standards.

A Silver Award (scoring 85–89/100) is reserved for work demonstrating exceptional technical ex*****on, timing, and artistic impact far exceeding standard commercial output.

Huge thanks to all of the swimmers and clubs who support my photography and enable me to capture moments like this.🏊‍♂️

With prolonged dry weather affecting pitches across the country, the Football Foundation has produced new guidance to help clubs, leagues and match officials assess playing conditions consistently and manage grass pitch use safely during drought periods.

The guidance outlines key considerations to protect player welfare, safeguard facilities and support informed decision making. Read more here: https://footballfoundation.org.uk/support-article/football-pitch-care-dry-weather-drought-guidance
