In the early hours of this morning 2 CME's slammed into Earths magnetic field and that produced an amazing display of Aurora Borealis. Id actually gone to bed at around 12:30am and was ready to turn the light off for some sleep. I decided to have one more flick through Facebook and while I was doing that I noticed some pictures of Aurora being posted. I went to the Spaceweather website to check the Aurora oval and was pleasantly surprised to see it was showing a good display, So while still in my under (πŸ™ˆ) I looked outside and saw what I thought was faint green, I grabbed my camera for a test shot and was surprised to see vibrant reds. Me and my wife quickly got dressed and headed out for what was one of the best displays we've ever seen. We could easily see the reds and greens with the naked eye. We got home at 4:20am. It was a brilliant night. Most of these were taken by Berwick's lifeboat station.

On Saturday (28th June) the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team - The Red Arrows were displaying at Shuttleworth in central Bedfordshire. Being in Biggleswade (which is just a couple of miles from Shuttleworth) I was able to see the display from the back garden (they flew directly overhead a few times). Here's some pictures of them I took from the back garden. It was a hot day (temps of around 30Β°c) so after the Red Arrows we had a BBQ and a chill in the rather large pool my brother purchased last year.

Another apology from me for the lack of content this year. I had my MRI scan in January and it revealed that I have some herniated discs in my neck. The surgeon is putting me forward for a couple of cortisone injections in my neck in the hope of them giving me some relief from the numbness, Twitching and cramping I'm getting in both hands and arms. I'm hoping to get out with the camera plenty this summer (I have a new macro lens to play with) and will hopefully have some images to share with you.
That's a little update from me, Hope everyone of my followers is doing well?

I'd like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.I'd also like to apologise for my lack of activity here....

I'd like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

I'd also like to apologise for my lack of activity here. 2024 has been a tough year, What with my mother-in-law sadly dying at the end of 2023 and all that went with that with me and my wife taking over the house and all the issues that came with that. Then there's my issues with my health. I've numbness running throughout my left hand, Fingers and arm and that makes gripping things tough some times and I get severe uncontrollable twitching in the fingers of both hands. I've an MRI scan penciled in for early January and hopefully that'll give me answers, Finally.

A few images from this weekends (29/06/24 - 30/06/24) displays from the Red Arrows, A Eurofighter Typhoon and a Spitfire from a display at Shuttleworth. On the 29th it was the Red Arrows that took centre stage, Those images were actually taken from my brother's back garden. On The 30th it was the Eurofighter Typhoon that took centre stage, These were taken while on a walk between Biggleswade and Shuttleworth. There's also one image of a Spitfire from the 30th, This was taken as it circled above me on its way to land at Shuttleworth.

Last night, After the sun had released multiple CME's (Coronal Mass Ejections) in Earths direction one of those hit Earth's magnetic field. NASA and NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) forecast a G4 class storm, The first G4 storm since 2005 (it was later upgraded to a G5 class storm, The first since 2003) meaning there was a very good chance for a decent display of Aurora (Northern Lights). Due to that forecast me and my wife headed out to a place just north of Berwick called Needles Eye. What we saw was nothing short of astonishing! I actually had to face the camera to the south for the majority of the night, That's how strong the storm was. It was a truly stunning sight and at some points during the night there was Aurora 360 degrees around us, It was literally like having an Auroral umbrella over us.

Here's a handful of images that I took last night, Including an image taken from my front garden with lots of Bluebells under the Aurora.

Feel free to share :)

Not been out much in the last 8 weeks or so. Me and my wife have been caring for her mum (Evelyn) ever since she had a small heart attack around 2 months ago. Ev was also diagnosed with Gallbladder cancer around a month ago and on the 27th of November she sadly passed away. Yesterday we buried the best mother-in-law I could have asked for. So please bear with me at this time. I'm sure I'll be back out soon enough and will finally get back to regular posts.

Here is a picture I took of Ev a few years ago, If I remember correctly she's knitting a scarf for my wife. A scarf that's reminiscent of a old Dr Who scarf.
