Polite notice: Watermarks 📸

When viewing any future galleries you may notice I have had to increase the size and centralise the position of the watermarks on all images.

Until now, I have only used a small watermark to allow for better viewing and to enable you to see riders/horses faces and smaller details before committing to purchase an image. Sadly this has led to a disappointingly high number of people just screenshotting the images and cropping out the watermark to post them on social media. I am so grateful that the vast majority of customers do support me by paying for their photos so it is not fair not only to myself but also to the honest people who do pay that this is happening.

I do not get paid by venues for covering photography, in all weathers, sometimes for more than 12 hours, on weekends, bank holidays and sometimes at short notice. I absolutely love what I do but I also work and have a young family so it just isn’t feasible for me to provide photos for free (with the exception of work agreed in advance to be used for marketing/portfolio purposes).

I know the cost of living (and especially the cost of owning and competing horses!) is higher than ever and no one is ever obliged to buy photos. I have never had and will never have a problem with people taking their own photos during their round instead of buying mine. I understand professional photos are a luxury. However, please do not use the photos anyway and just not pay for them. If you choose not to support event photographers they will stop attending.

Paying for a digital download allows you to use the photos on social media, print it at home, and to be downloaded at a higher resolution than can be achieved with a screenshot. I also sell prints at a low cost which will be delivered directly to your home.

The gallery platform I use notifies me when a photo has been screenshotted and sadly I have even seen people who I am ‘friends’ with on my personal Facebook use screenshots of my images as their profile picture without as much as giving any credit.

Therefore, from now on my galleries will be much more heavily watermarked than before. I’m so sorry to the honest customers who have bought images and I can’t thank you enough for supporting me.

A new chapter… 🤍

When I first started my photography journey, I was working in a full time marketing role and my vision with Hull Local Business Lens was to offer commercial photography in a way that is accessible and affordable for smaller, local businesses.

I have worked with some truly inspiring and extremely hard working local entrepreneurs and I have gained so much knowledge and experience during this time but the business has also naturally taken a different direction. Equine photography has taken over the majority of my work and I am so passionate about capturing the moments that make the equestrian community so special, and it feels only right that my brand reflects that.

So, I’m so excited to introduce…

It was a bit of a wet one - the earlier show jumping classes were shot in challenging conditions and sadly the rain is visible in some of the photos but I’ve included everything I captured so no one misses their round.

Despite the temperamental weather, it was an asbolute pleasure to spend Good Friday capturing some incredibly talented young riders at Derwent Hunt Pony Club’s Junior Series Showjumping at Bishop Burton College.

I was born and raised in Hull, and I am still proudly living here today. I spent years studying business and now have an established career in marketing. I have recently decided to combine all of this knowledge and experience with my passion for photography, a hobby that I have enjoyed for over a decade!

I have photographed friends, family, pets and a range of different events, but my focus is on capturing businesses doing what they do best.
