When Stella came for her residential training, she was stressed, apprehensive and struggling to be a dog. She would try to bite if I went to pick up the lead or touch her, if anyone tried to put a harness on her and she was not enjoying her walks.
A few days and lots of confidence building, self regulation practice and good quality rest later, her mindset started to shift from apprehensive to anticipatory! We then spent the rest of the time building new behavioural pathways, having some fun, teaching her to enjoy touch through massage and continuing to shift her mindset.
This resulted in a dog that didn't choose violence, was much more relaxed, willing to try new things and just able to be a dog again.
