Had a non-productive time trying to get a decent image with the Geranium Macrorrhizum over the last week or so. During my fourth session with them, I still couldn't get enough light through the sepals to really show off the beautiful markings without overexposing.
Decided I'd have one last go, as the majority of the flowers are past their best now and next year is 12-months away. My last ditch effort coincided with some beautiful late afternoon, strong but soft backlighting (but I wanted to avoid the colour cast of the golden hour), and I had 20 mins of sheer abstract joy! Didn't get the sepals how I wanted to, but when the stamen look as interesting as they did, I had to 'go with the story'!

Got home from Leasowes Park, collected a pink clematis and hawthorn flower to experiment with. Clematis petals were a bit too thick for light to get through easily, have one shot I may develop on a winters evening. Hawthorn flower had nice stamen detail but the petals weren't elegant enough to pass as fine art. Again a winters evening may find me developing this photo.

Had an early-ish start this morning, went to Leasowes Park to work on my landscape photography. As it was overcast when I first got there, wasn't too much to capture the imagination. Wanted to see what the golden hour would pick out. Clouds disappeared by 8-ish, but was walking through the woods by then. Got a couple of sunburst shots through the trees, may post one if I get chance. They have a very pretty walled garden and friendly volunteers. Managed a couple shots in there too with nicely saturated colours even though the sun was quite high by then. Couple of path shots as I made my way back to the car park. I'd say well worth a visit as there is also a pond, waterfall and a bridge or two. Didn't get anything inspiring though- my search for a landscape photo goes on....
