My childhood dream to finally step into a world that for many years I had pictured in many ways, filled with ideas created by Japanese cartoons and playing video games. From my first anime in 1995 (Captain Tsubasa) to my adulthood obsession with Evangelion.

Yeah, those big buildings with flashy signs on the roof, the pink sunsets with the planes crossing Tokyo. The quiet and serene wards, where life can be slow and simple. The rivers where people sat down under the bridges, the izakayas, and the train stations. All with an air of stillness and nostalgia.

It was windy but not cold, it was busy but lonely,  it was loud but quiet. It was superposition. It was everything that I wished for and more.

Thank you Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto.

Very rarely I take a camera with me when I travel. But in 2023, I took it while crossing Bangladesh with Ziaur, Jakir and Julal in journey about reconnection.

An assignment that ended up being something more than just a trip. It reopened a conversation with myself that I had when I was in uni, in Mexico. 

What else can I do with my work? How far can I go? How close can I go? and how can I tell more stories, real stories? 

As I'm about to embark into another adventure, these questions linger.

I guess that's part of the creative journey, the one with no destination and with the sole purpose of enjoying the trip itself.

Ps. “Once upon a time in Bangladesh” is a WIP, and currently looking for creative avenues.
