I am so pleased to share that I am graduating next week with a first class degree in photography from Birmingham City University!

With my time at BCU coming to the end it has been an amazing learning experience over the course of the 3 years with me refining my genre to portraiture and documentary throughout the course. It has been amazing to put on my first solo exhibition as well as two group exhibitions with my coursemates in Birmingham and London.

Thank you to all the lecturers, support team and coursemates I have met over the years and thank you to everyone who has supported me in achieving this amazing milestone in my career and life.

Wishing all of my fellow coursemates the best of luck for the future and also I can’t wait to see what's next for all of us!

London Free Range Exhibition (June 2023)
The most recent exhibition I have been able to take part in was Free Range in Brick Lane, London. It is an experience I am so grateful for as us 3rd years at Birmingham City University got to celebrate all together by presenting our final works along with all different Universities in the UK.

The exhibition definitely taught me the struggles of exhibiting including a broken down van, being unable to hang my work where planned and so many other useful skills for future exhibitions. The end result was definitely worth it with my work showcased beautifully on a wall to itself. Hopefully this will not be the last time I am able to exhibit my project ‘Carried Out in a Wooden Box’.

Thank you again to the people at Free Range, to Birmingham City University staff, to my peers and also to the other creative minds I met at Free Range whether it was exhibitors or viewers. Also thank you to Anderson and Low and Stephen from Grain who made their way over specially to support us at BCU.

Birmingham Graduation Exhibition (June 2023)
My recent work has been on display for two weeks at Birmingham City University’s Parkside Building for the graduation show otherwise known as BCU’s Inspired Festival.

It has been such a perfect event to showcase everyone's work and achievements after coming to the end of the 3 year course. Thank you so much to all the tutors and technicians for the help and guidance they have given in order to push all of us to create our best outcomes that represent the kind of work we want to be showcasing. Another huge thank you as well to Grain who awarded me with a year long mentorship!

Farm Exhibition (May 2023)
In May I finished my final major project at University titled ‘Carried Off in a Wooden Box’. I was then fortunate enough to be able to bring the work back to the space and end the project with my first exhibition!

The exhibition was a collaboration between me and the small holding owners Sandy and Wilma. We included a few different presentations of the work including my final 14 images, a wall of selected small prints and photographs taken by the farmers. The exhibition also included a video of the farm from 1992, zines from the 2021 prints and all the barns open with the animals all there for families to see.

It was such an amazing experience to end the project on and I want to say thank you to the farmers, their family and people around the village for the support and interest in the work. This definitely will not be the end of the work as I aim to keep documenting Sandy and Wilma and their loving devotion to their animals.

ARCHIVES: Dodie & Support Acts, March 2018

2017, was the year I got into concert photography and I used to sneak in a small mirrorless camera into concerts and camp out for front row in order to get some close up pics of my favourite artists. Recently I realised I had never put any of this work on display, and although many are blurry and before my days of learning about the art of photography. I thought it was interesting to show my roots, from going from someone in the crowd and a fan to press passes and I hopefully much more in the future. So here are 6 posts showing images and clips from my 2017 archives.
