Our Contax Zeiss MM C/Y set — 21mm f/2.8, 28mm f/2, 35mm f/1.4, 50mm f/1.4, and 85mm f/1.4 — has been fully cinemodded in EF mount, with matching 77mm front diameters, declicked and geared for professional production. Designed by Carl Zeiss Oberkochen and manufactured between 1984 and 1992, these are the definitive MM-era primes — the second and final generation of a lens system born from Zeiss’s 1973 partnership with Yashica, engineered to the same optical standards as the Zeiss Super Speeds appearing on film sets of the same era. The MM generation matters: improved T* multi-coating over the earlier AE lenses delivers cleaner colour transmission, contrast retention and the redesigned circular iris eliminates the notorious ninja-star bokeh of the AE generation — wide open, out-of-focus rendering is smooth and cinematic throughout the set, these are the tasteful choice. Warm, dimensional, with a purple-violet flare signature under hard sources that no modern glass replicates.
