Do I have any friends on here who are historians? or anyone who has ever researched the history of a building, or a famous family from the 16th century? The reason I ask is my parents home (where I was very fortunate to grow up) is at risk of being impacted by a proposed development of five houses in the field directly in front of it, we have objected and highlighted some things that have been missed/overlooked, this process has highlighted that a lot of the history of the house that we have been told over the years by councils, local authorities and even Warwick Castle is not documented though. What we have been told is the house was built in 1538 by the Dudley Family, in particular John Dudley who went on to become the Earl of Warwick, giving the area its name (Earlswood) his one son, Robert Dudley the Earl of Leicester who also resided at Kenilworth Castle had ties to Shakespeare who is documented as visiting the property, we know this because the old oak tree in the garden has a TPO against it because Shakespeare referenced sitting under it while writing. The issue I have is proving any of these facts, the house is a listed building, but as with many listings the details on the listing are just a description of the house. If you are still reading, thank you, and if you can help, please get in touch, it would be greatly appreciated. Itโs funny to think of all the history and significant people who have been at the house and how now it often serves an RC rally course, I may ask ai to create an image of The Bard sitting under an Oak Tree playing with an RC car for fun :)
We have lots more facts and stories about the house and links to Shakespeare, Warwick Castle and Kenilworth castle, far too much for on here. Let me know if you want to know more though ๐๐ผ๐
