Photo restoration - can you do it?

This is a question we get asked all the time.
It does depend on how faded the images are and these are pretty far gone so to get them back as good as we have is a job well done I would say.

More importantly our client was over the moon and in his words “sure they’re as good as new” - and that is all that matters 🙂.

Happy Friday everyone.

I’m a bit scruffy at the moment cause I’m waiting for my groom but I thought I would help wrap all the framed items ready for collection in both daddy and mummy’s shops this weekend.

These 2 absolutely stunning pieces left this week for their forever home. Momentos from a recent holiday they have been given the 5 star treatment. They really need to be seen in person to be appreciated.

The elephants is in a 78mm wide ferrous black solid wood frame which is perfect as it’s more of a charcoal black and doesn’t overpower the image perhaps like a solid jet black would. It is approx 5 foot wide before the frame so a substantial piece.

The lion cub piece is in a 60mm wide storm coloured solid wood frame with hints of silver throughout completely pulling the eye in to the centre of the image.

Both pieces have been finished with our superior art glass - and yes! There is glass in them both. The beauty of this glass is that it is so transparent unlike years ago non reflective was used which had a haze at the back. This dulled the colours whereas the art glass we now use keeps them vibrant and has a high ratio of UV protection to prevent against fading and also gives little to no reflection head on.

We suggested adding a couple of pics and a text box and I think you’ll agree it looks amazing and is a very special keepsake for the start of her journey.

Mounted onto black and a soft white over black for the 3D effect finished in a solid wood deep set frame to house the piece giving that 3D effect.

I absolutely love this piece - a little jumpsuit worn as a child framed for a birthday as an adult.

How amazing does it look?

We chose to mount it on navy which complements it so well and put a soft white over red for that 3D effect and finished it off with a solid white veneered moulding deep enough to house the piece.

Our client was over the moon when she saw it and knew her son would just love it too 🙂.

Hi guys

Just a quick message to apologise as we are a little behind. We aim to get things turned around in approx 4 - 5 weeks but it’s a little longer than that.

We are extremely busy being a specialist framer/framers closing down etc and some items take a bit longer, with one lady bringing in 41 pieces, and Elli hasn’t been in as much as she’s quite poorly.
No excuses though we are doing everything we can to get back up to speed, with Harley coming in to help frame too. Give us a couple of weeks and we will be back on track.

On another note I know that some of you like to go through things with Elli and she helps you choose your mounts and frame combinations. If you need to see her please call to arrange a time with the shop as she isn’t always readily available at the moment.
She will also be off from towards the end of June for at least 8 weeks as she is having major surgery with a slow recovery. This is beyond our control and we just need Elli back to full health. As of the end of June we will be closing on a Wednesday to work behind closed doors which will also help and we can also arrange evening appointments if you need to drop items off.

Again apologies for the delay - we hope you understand and as usual if you need things by a certain date we will endeavour to get them done in time but please get your items in well in advance.
