Tŷ Crwn (also known as The Round House), a historic 19th-century stone lock-up located in Barmouth, Wales.

Built around 1833–1834 on the orders of local magistrates, the building was designed with a circular floor plan historically used to hold drunks and petty offenders.

Local folklore suggests the circular shape was chosen so that the devil would have no corners to hide in, with the interior divided to separate male and female detainees.

Lake Vyrnwy Dam wales

Built between 1881 and 1890, it was the first large masonry dam in the UK.

The reservoir was created to supply fresh water to the city of Liverpool.

It was also the first dam built to carry overflow water directly over its crest rather than through a side channel.

Dimensions: The stone structure stands 44 metres (144 ft) high, measures 358 metres (1,175 ft) long, and features 31 decorative arches and two gothic-style towers.

Human Cost: The heavy construction work took 12 years to fully complete alongside its aqueduct infrastructure and tragically cost the lives of 44 workers.

The scenic area surrounding the lake is managed as a national nature reserve.
