There’s weddings… then there’s farmers’ weddings! 🚜 ✨

Z & J’s wedding was an absolute corker. I don't think I've ever seen that much energy crammed into one marquee, with an incredible atmosphere and a crowd that knew how to party.

It was brilliant to see 𝕋ℍ𝔼 𝔻𝕆𝕄𝕀ℕ𝕆𝕊 again, their roaming set had everyone out of their seats (and onto the tables… never mind chairs! 😂). Incredible food as always by Becky Griemink Catering, and the beautiful flowers all grown on the family farm, were just sublime.

This is one I won’t forget in a hurry. Congratulations, you two!

Warm, sunny weather is the dream for summer weddings, but when you’ve got a heatwave on your hands your photography plan may need some tweaks.

A bit of hot weather isn’t a problem in small doses, but in extreme heat your schedule will need more flexibility to keep everyone comfortable and safe.

The first thing I tell my couples is that your key photos may need to happen later in the day. Not only is softer evening sun far more flattering, but you’ll feel much more relaxed too. Nobody looks their best when they’re exhausted and overheating.

Shade and speed become essential for group photos, and on the hottest of days it’s a good idea to cut your formal group list right back to the essentials to hurry things along.

And just like people, cameras can overheat too. High temperatures can cause equipment to slow down and fail if it's pushed too hard, so don’t be surprised if your photographer needs to pause more often and let their gear recover.

Thankfully I’ve photographed my fair share of weddings in all kinds of weather, so heatwaves don’t really faze me. All I ask is that you’re prepared to adapt your plans, slow things down a little, and trust the process so I can get you the best photos possible ☀️

Sometimes you instantly know when you've met your people, don't you?

Well, I knew T&J were absolutely my kind of of people right from their very first phone call, and even more so when I spotted one of their ceremony readings was a favourite David Bowie song of mine 🤍

T&J’s wedding at Normanton church back in April was a total joy to photograph, I'll always remember this one as being full to the brim with smiles, laughter and great music. Also some of the most heartfelt speeches I've ever heard in my 15 years doing this job.

I'm actually off to Rutland again today for another wedding and feel so lucky that this is my corner of the world as a wedding photographer.
