So this was certainly a sunrise that I didn't miss. The weather forecast was correct. Sun, tick. Cloud, tick! I made my way to Hengistbury Head and waited on the beach for the colour to intensify and bam!!!! A whack of colour to make you realise how beautiful Dorset can be. These conditions always make me smile and chuckle to myself and it very much lifts the spirits. I waited till the colour had been squeezed from the sky and went back home for a large hot chocolate to warm myself up. Hope you all have a wonderful Easter weekend and get plenty of chocolate to scoff 😁

Light at the end of the tunnel!
I'm back! After having a little break of sharing my photo's I'm back and hopefully will keep it going now. I've had a lot on my plate to deal with but I feel like I'm getting there and hopefully by the summer, I should be feeling much better and ready to photograph the world again.
So that brings me on to my first share. I've had my eye on this board walk for about a year or so and finally in March, I got the colours I was hoping for. It was an amazing sunrise and I will show you the colours in a different photo but this was taken after the main colour had died down. I just sat down and enjoyed the surroundings. The senses were treated to the full works.

So this one was taken a week ago down at Bournemouth pier. It was a lovely bit of colour after a lot of flat light. I forgot the wellies which is standard for me. The good news is the boots that I ruined at Corfe Castle a few weeks ago got a good wash in the sea that morning and are now shiny and clean. Result!!!

So back to Wareham River and the misty weekend we had a few weeks ago. A bit of a crowd there that morning so I was limited to where I could go without getting in everybody's shots. Most went on just after sunrise but I had my eye on this cormorant who kept preening and hinting of that classic pose they do in the sunshine. Eventually he/she did it! It was worth the wait.

I'm hoping this is a new angle. I haven't seen this done before but correct me if I'm wrong? So this was all about timing. As it was, I didn't get the timing right but I can't control the Sandbanks Ferry sadly. So I watched the sun go down and waited a little bit just in case we got some nice colour but it didn't happen. I started walking back to the car and all of a sudden, like somebody had switched a light on, the colour arrived! But so did the Sandbanks Ferry. I rushed back to my spot and took some pics anyway and when I look at them now, I actually like the ferry being in it.

So off I trotted to Evening Hill for a quick blast of sunshine and some cold fresh air. Another very low tide, in fact I could of possibly walked to Brownsea Island that day. Not an incredible amount of cloud cover but just enough to add warmth and interest. Still eagerly waiting Storm Freya today. She's pretty tame so far but hopefully I won't eat my words 🤭

So this was taken last week at Evening Hill. I know it's a little bit abstract for me but I loved the geometric shapes and reflection in the water. Couple that with the lovely orange tones that we have seen so much of this last week. You give me a silhouette and a reflection and I'm easily pleased 🙂

So this morning I was treated to a beautiful spectacle. This is the third time I've been to Corfe for sunrise and on all three occasions I've been blessed with mist. I've been trying to capture a different angle on each occasion so for this, I got off the main path and slipped and skidded my way into the middle of West Hill. I forgot my walking boots, big mistake! A ruined a pair of casual boots as they are now covered thick in cow p**p! 🤣

So this was taken on Monday. It was a beautiful day so we headed down to Kimmeridge for the show down. The clouds were already moody and dark and I wasn't sure whether we would see any colour but it managed to sneak through on the horizon like fire blazing. I found some trapped water in a dip to bounce a reflection from and here we have the finished article. Happy Friday everybody!

A much loved Dorset landmark sitting pretty at sunset. This is Durdle Door looking towards Bats Head. The door didn't quite sit where I wanted it to go so I opted for the stretch of beach to get the mad waves in and all that colour. It was so windy that it was near enough impossible to stand on the cliffs above so down onto the beach for a dramatic end to the day.

So whilst I recuperate after an operation, I'll share some photo's that I haven't got round to sharing yet. This was taken in Jan and it definitely lends itself to a monochrome look. Rather moody that day but you know, it's perfect conditions to play with shutter speeds. Kimmeridge is one of my most favourite places and I can't wait to get back on my feet and get back out there.
