The first peek of sun this morning...

After a couple of failed attempts at a sunrise dip, resulting in dips but no sunrise, finally as I approached the bay this morning I just knew it was going to be a good one.

As the sun burst through the horizon, the cloud above went a deep red, reflecting in the ocean all around me. Just mind blowingly beautiful!

More to come on this one. Out of 450 shots I had 280 keepers - which rarely happens on shoots like these! Don't worry I wont bore you with all 280 though.....

Here comes the sun!

And after yesterday post, finally those sunrise photos from yesterday morning - the moment the big orange ball burst through those clouds was pretty special.

Here’s to more September sun like this 🧡

Have a great week ahead everyone!

There’s something so special about leaving the house while the world is still dark.

Heading out into the unknown, walking towards a place you know well but seeing it in a completely different way.

I hadn’t really done a proper sunrise mission in a while, and I’d forgotten just how good it feels - the quiet, the anticipation, the changing light and that little sense of adventure before the sun appears. But yes that’s exactly what I did this morning! - but I’m going to save the actual sunrise photos til tomorrow morning!

Anyway, Old Harry Rocks did not disappoint.

And yes, James came along for the ride again - my new lightweight 3 Legged Thing tripod getting another early morning outing.

Swipe through the frames to see how the morning unfolded, then the last two for a little behind-the-scenes look at the setup. 📸

Sometimes you just need to set the alarm, leave the house in the dark and go.

An early summers sunset.... and ....

A little sneak peek of something new I’ve been lucky enough to try and test as a 3 Legged Thing ambassador. 👀

Meet James - a slim, lightweight, modular carbon fibre travel tripod, made for adventures without the extra weight.

I’ve been putting it through its paces, including this beautiful early summer sunset at Mudeford Quay.

I’m always drawn to kit that makes getting out and photographing simpler, and James has definitely earned a place in my camera bag.

*Launching on Kickstarter next Wednesday, 9th September.*

More soon… 📸

0.8 seconds

There’s something about just watching how the water moves, and how using your camera you get to capture that movement. From half a second to 10 seconds the effects are so wildly different - and I love that, putting your own creative flair to that movement.

So yeah, this one was 0.8 seconds.

Have a great weekend you lovely people!

So, hello. I’m Emily.
Thought it was time for a little introduction/reintroduction from me!

I’m a photographer, ocean obsessive, workshop leader and creative wanderer - and four years ago I took the leap from my 9–5 to make photography my full-time career.

These days, my work takes me from coastlines and mountains to being waist-deep in the ocean, photographing brands, leading workshops and helping other photographers find their own creative voice.

Underneath all of it, my why is pretty simple:

Ultimately its about being able to be present. To connect. To create. And to help others do the same - whilst finding so much joy in this along the way.

I love that we can all stand in the same place, with the same camera, and create something completely different.

That’s what I want to encourage - less worrying about doing it “right”, less chasing someone else's style, and more finding your own way of seeing.

So if you’re new here, welcome - and if you've been here for years, then thanks or sticking with me!

Expect coastlines, seascapes, salt water, adventures, photography, creativity, workshop launches and so much more!

And thank you for being here. It genuinely means more than you know. x

Scotland - an endless list of favourite places.

Sometimes the experience really is more about the journey than the destination.

From north to south, east to west, Scotland is packed with landscapes that make you want to stop every five minutes. Wild coastlines, dramatic mountains, winding roads, lochs, light… and an endless list of places I still want to explore.

Every trip seems to leave me with a new favourite spot - and a longer list for next time.

Already looking forward to being back soon, Scotland. 💙

SIDE NOTE! Want to hear about a brand new workshop launch with then keep em peeled at midday today!!! 📸 it’s gonna be a good un!

September sunrises…

There’s something pretty special about them. Softer light, cooler mornings and that feeling of having the ocean almost entirely to yourself. In fact these photos were taken last September, during a pretty magical start.

I’m looking forward to plenty more of this over the coming month.

Early starts, salty swims and sunrise light. September, I’m ready for you. ✨
