🔥 MATCH DAY RECAP 🔥

In a stunning opener to the new season, Calverley Utd Ladies started with a convincing 6-0 victory against Kellingley Welfare Reserves in our first competitive match.

The initial stages saw both teams feeling each other out, with nerves evident as it took about 30 minutes to settle. However, once settled, we began to dominate the game. The team's perseverance paid off as we went into halftime with a 2-0 lead, courtesy of Abbie Tate.

After the break, we returned with newfound confidence and composure. The second half started brilliantly with Hayley opening the scoring with a spectacular free kick from 30 yards out, leaving the opposition's keeper with no chance. This goal ignited the team and propelled us into a series of beautiful combinations and attacking plays.

Abbie Tate further cemented her place as a star by netting her hat trick with an outstanding solo effort, showing great determination and skill. The scoring did not stop there; Hayley added her second of the match by capitalising on a rebound from a penalty save, demonstrating the team's relentless attack.

With just five minutes remaining, Becca sealed the impressive victory, making it 6-0 and rounding off a performance that will be remembered by fans and players alike.

Despite the scoreline, Kellingley Welfare Reserves proved to be a persistent threat, with their attacks frequently testing Naomi in net, who made a number of remarkable saves to keep a clean sheet and was named player of the match ⭐️

Overall, we, Calverley Utd Ladies, displayed excellent teamwork, maintaining our structure and built momentum throughout the match. This victory sets a positive tone as we look to carry this form into our next fixtures.

We are delighted to be taking part in this charity fixture. Due to the original team pulling out, East Leeds Legends reached out and asked if we could help out, in which we said yes straight away.

This charity game is being played in aid of Team Jack and Candlelighters and all money raised goes to supporting children with cancer and their families. ❤️

It promises to be a fantastic day of football, community, support and solidarity — and we’d love to see as many people there as possible!
