Following on from my previous post, I’ve honestly been overwhelmed with the support for pigeons. I did however still have to moderate the comments section and remove some posts from the usual suspects. I’m all for freedom of speech, but I do not want my platform used to speak negatively about wildlife, especially when it comes to advocating shooting and labelling animals pests and vermin. In response I wanted to instead share another image which I took today in my garden which helps show their true beauty. From what I have gathered there seems to be a huge disconnect and I think it’s important to remind people that we should appreciate these birds for what they really are. Beautiful, intelligent animals that deserve our respect. I still don’t quite understand why some people dislike them, but I’m so glad there are people out there who love them just as much as I do

I’ve been seeing a lot of hate online recently towards pigeons, from being shot, injured with catapults, or just generally persecuted and labelled as vermin. It’s hard to understand how any animal can still be treated like this after having spent time observing them. These two wood pigeons chose to sit together, preen one another and help keep each other warm. To simply put it, they are enjoying each other’s company. Behaviour like this reminds me that they are not so different fom us, they have their own relationships, emotions and social bonds, just like so many other animals we label as pests. Whatever opinions people have about pigeons, they deserve to live their lives without persecution. If you choose anything, choose to be kind

Have you ever wondered what it is like to see the famous sea lions at Pier 39 in San Francisco? Well hopefully this video will make you smile. This is a compilation of some of my best footage from my recent trip, and in all honesty, this has to be my favourite video to date. From pure chaos to sudden calm, one minute the sea lions are playing and fighting, next they are sound asleep as if nothing happened. I chose not to add any music to this video as I wanted you to experience the raw atmosphere and both see and hear it for yourself. I would really love to know what you all think?

During my trip stateside, I came across a bird I have always wanted to see, an American Robin! At first, I thought it might be similar to the Robin we know and love here in the UK, but I was really surprised how different they actually are. Same name, but quite distinct in both appearance and behaviour. Here I have provided a comparison for you to see, same pose, different bird. Simply swipe to see. Following on from my previous post, another unforgettable species from my trip was the magnificent California brown pelican which is found along the Pacific coast of North America. I’ve been so busy recently that I’ve neglected sharing some of my favourite moments from my trip to California. One place that completely blew me away was Pier39 in San Francisco. Being surrounded by the California sea lions, the noise, the smell, the whole atmosphere, it’s something I’ll never forget. These five images are a bit different from my usual wildlife shots, but I wanted to share them because together they capture the energy of such an unforgettable place.
