This striking image presents London's iconic Tower Bridge poised against a clear sky, its architectural details highlighted by soft daylight. To the right, a historic naval ship, HMS Belfast, rests quietly on the river, adding a layer of maritime heritage to the scene. The composition conveys a blend of urban life and history, making it an appealing addition to any space seeking a connection to London's enduring spirit.

Barry Island’s fairground has been a feature of the resort for around 130 years, beginning as a small seasonal fair in 1896–1897 before becoming a permanent inland amusement park after the promenade was built in 1923.

There was a time when Barry Island Funfair was the heartbeat of every South Wales summer. Coaches arrived by the dozen, families poured off the trains with buckets and spades, and the sounds of music, laughter, and clattering rides filled the warm sea air.

For generations, Barry Island meant a classic British seaside day out: candyfloss, dodgems, waltzers, flashing arcade machines, and the smell of fresh doughnuts drifting along the promenade. Many people still remember queuing for their favourite rides, clutching a handful of tokens, and staying until the lights came on at dusk. Barry Island Pleasure Park has seen a series of new rides added in recent seasons, with notable additions arriving in 2022 and 2026.

These images were taken last weekend early last Saturday morning whilst the fairground was still relatively quiet!

Labor Day always lands a little differently for people who make things for a living.

Today's slower pace is a good reminder of the effort behind every finished work, including "013_20260812_203215," today's feature.

Slow it down and take some time to browse my online gallery this weekend.

Today's design reminder: one of the easiest ways to create a cohesive space is by paying attention to tone rather than theme.

A warm wood frame paired with warm wood floors, or artwork with cooler tones in a room that already leans cool, can instantly make a space feel more intentional.

Nothing has to match perfectly. Wood grains don't need to be identical, and neither do the colors throughout your room. Simply deciding whether your space feels predominantly warm or cool is a great place to start.

And don't be afraid to mix in the opposite tone here and there. A little contrast often adds the interest that makes a room feel complete.
