New work with The Scentry Collective | Luxury Sustainable Candles & Wax Melts for their recently releaced range of wax melts.

With a brand new produuct and a redesign of their packaging, this shoot needed to work as a visual bridge between the brand's existing imagery and the new, so we stuck to the same light neutral tones and natural props but this time introduced a softer, cosier overall aesthetic just in time for autumn 🍁

I didn't have my camera with me much in August, I'm always trying to balance the impulse to document the memory of the things we do with remaining present to actually experience them.

But we took a trip to North Wales for a few days and Fox summoned some cows and seals and I finally saw a lighthouse in real life.

There was stargazing and cave exploring a Lord of the Rings movie marathon where the kids finally sat down with me and watched the whole thing. Formative experiences all round really.

It's world photography day and for 21 years it's been me and my camera vs the world.

What a gift its been to have a passion for something that has not only given me so much joy and so many experiences and friendships I never would have had without it, but has also allowed me to build a business that I love and has kept the beautiful record of all of my most precious memories.

In a landscape thats ever changing, its hard to say what my relationship with photography will look like in 20 years or 40.

But I do know that no matter where I am or what I'm doing, I will always be the girl with the camera 📷

Maximising accuracy in-camera equals minimising time in post production and spending less time editing means you get more images in your gallery.

But working with products whose images will be zoomed into, enlarged or used in ads means they still need to be processed individually to check for dust, scuffs and to make the individual alterations that make your photos pop, so applying a one-size-fits-all filter and calling it a day is not enough.

Handpaintinted backdrops add instant depth and texture to your styled product images and are a great option when you don't want to busy the frame with props. Working with natural light can be tricky when the overall tone of the shot is determined by a factor as out of my control as the weather, but when working with products like candles that bring their own light, and when the purpose of an image is about mood rather than a consistant look across an entire set, ambient light can be the be the perfect choice to create organic, true to life images like this lifestyle shot for Billie Rose Candles
