Back‑to‑school week is here for so many of our little (and big!) ones, and I’ve loved capturing those milestone moments for a few of my young clients recently.

After a long, sunshine‑filled summer - whether you spent it adventuring with your children or juggling work around the holidays - this week always feels like a fresh chapter.

These “starting school” and “back to school” portraits are some of my favourites to photograph. The excitement, the nerves, the oversized uniforms, the proud smiles… it’s all part of their story. And your memories.

13 years ago today, this little beauty made me a mum 💙

13 YEARS AGO! 😭

I try not to tell my clients that their babies will grow quicker than they can blink… they’re going to find that out for themselves anyway! 😂 But I do tell them to treasure every single age and every single stage.

Each age brings its own challenges, and parenthood certainly isn’t for the faint-hearted… but my goodness, is it rewarding ❤️

This little 10-hour-old, 8lb 9oz beauty is now 13, matches my height and will no doubt be towering over me before I know it! 😂

But thankfully, he still gives me the best cuddles 🥰

He is why I do what I do.

Why I cherish every single newborn session I photograph.

Because when I’m cuddling your baby, I’m not just doing my job. I’m treasuring that moment too. That tiny newborn stage that disappears far too quickly.

When you trust me with your precious little baby, I never take that trust for granted. Your baby is just as precious to me in that moment as they are to you, and I feel incredibly lucky to be able to capture those memories for you to keep forever 🤍

Because I know first-hand just how quickly those tiny newborn cuddles become 13-year-old cuddles. And before I know it, even those will be a distant memory 😭

S P E N C E R

8 months ago I met this gorgeous little chap when he came to the studio for his newborn session with his Mummy. He was 9 weeks new, so on the older side for a newborn session, but we got a beautiful gallery of both sleepy and also wide eyed images.

Fast foward to this morning and he was back for his Sit & Smile session as part of his Grow With Me package, documenting his first year. This time he brought his big sister Maisie along as well as his Mummy - and she's such a fab big sister! He was grinning like mad at her and giggling when she danced behind the camera. They also had some lovely images taken all together.

Maisie was in her element when I asked her to blow bubbles for Spencer and he absolutely loved them!

We had some photos on a nice light backdrop and then Mummy asked if she could get him into his cute Pumpkin Club outfit as she loves Autumn, so I just had to change the set up accordingly!

Welcome to the world, baby George.

Just 8 days new and already stealing hearts. He arrived this morning with his Mummy, Daddy and proud big sister Amber - who I photographed as a newborn almost four years ago. It’s always such a joy when families return with their newest little one.

We began with family and sibling photos, keeping everything relaxed and led by the children, before Daddy and Amber headed off for some time together. Mummy enjoyed a quiet hot brew while George took centre stage. Newborn sessions always run at baby’s pace, and today George needed plenty of top‑ups and cuddles before finally drifting into the peaceful slumber you see here.

This sweet sneak peek was captured right at the end of his session, once he decided he was ready for his close‑up.

T H E ~ A A R O N ~ F A M I L Y

Anyone with young children knows that family photo day is all about choosing your battles… and honestly, that’s half the fun. If baby Scarlett was determined to cover her face at every opportunity, Victoria insisted Rapunzel stayed firmly on her shoulders, and Penelope only beamed when I shouted “raspberry ripple ice cream and sprinkles” - then that’s exactly how it had to be!

I adore catching up with this family every time they visit the studio. Their sessions are always full of giggles, a sprinkle of chaos (mostly from me behind the camera), and those wonderfully real moments that make their portraits so special.

If you have a young family and would like to update your family photos but you’re feeling apprehensive about whether your children will “perform”, then please don’t worry. My sessions are laid back and relaxed to make everything as fun as possible for the little people - we work entirely at their pace, and at the end of it all, the goal is happy smiles all round.

There’s nothing quite like seeing my work living its best life on your walls.

This lovely client sent me a photo of her three gorgeous big canvases proudly displayed in her living room, all from her little boy’s Sit & Smile session - and my heart honestly swelled.

Knowing these moments aren’t tucked away on a phone, but celebrated every single day in your home, is exactly why I do what I do.

Wall art has a way of turning fleeting stages into lasting stories, and seeing families choose to display their images like this makes me incredibly proud.

Absolutely love how these turned out.

H U D S O N

Welcome to the world, little Hudson! Today is his due date but he just couldn’t wait to meet his parents, making his entrance last Friday!

This morning was such a joy. We spent time chatting, laughing (mostly at Daddy’s expense…), and talking through their birth experience. I always want my studio to feel like a safe, gentle space where new parents can share their stories - a little de‑brief after labour can be so grounding, and every journey into parenthood is uniquely special.

Hudson took a little convincing to settle at first - he was far more interested in cuddles, and honestly, who could blame him? With patience and calm, he soon drifted into the sweetest sleep, and together we’ve created a gallery his whole family will absolutely treasure.
