A whizz through the screenprinting process of ‘Nocturne 3’, a new limited edition screenprint in my Nocturne series.

Each one has its own character as the colours of the moon vary from pale yellows to blood orange. A variable edition of 30 in a small midiprint format. Full details on my website (link in bio).

Introducing Nocturne 3.
A new original print in my nocturnes series, in a small midiprint format and with a new colour palette.

Following on from yesterday’s work-in-progress reel, here now is the final screenprint.
As you’ll see by swiping through, this is a variable edition, each one handprinted with slightly different colours. So the moons vary between pale yellows, warm yellows streaked with late sunlight, or the orange of a blood moon. Each one unique!

Less than two weeks left of the Atelier Open 26 at ATELIER BESIDE THE SEA on Brighton’s seafront.
A great exhibition of paintings, prints and 3D art curated by Tutton and Young - and just a pebble’s throw from the beach, which is of course worth a visit in itself. Swipe for some seaside inspiration or encouragement to pop down to Brighton while the summer is still with us!

Four of my screenprints are included in the exhibition (framed artwork on the wall; unframed in the browsers) and all artworks are also available through their website.
Exhibition closes 13th September.

Sunlight from my window streaming over an artwork of sunlight streaming through a window.

I’ve now framed ‘Sunday morning’, the large terracotta version. Swipe to see the signing, the mount, the frame, and the unframed version of both the terracotta and blue variations wrapped and ready for sale.

This frame is only for display purposes for now but I’m really pleased with how it looks in the light woodgrain. If anyone’s interested in this screenprint I’d happily arrange for one to be framed in something similar, or a colour of your choice.

And relax….

A new screenprint, working title ‘At the pool’. Hope it may be cooling on this hot day in the UK.

I’ve been fiddling around with the colours on this for a few weeks but think I’m happy with it now. Swipe for a clip of me printing the final layer, as well as some of the variations.

It’s intentionally minimal - I’m resisting the temptation to add a foreground feature as I like the semi-abstract style of this one and the focus on colour. It’s inspired by a view over a pool in Tuscany: clear blue skies, white walls, terracotta paths, and shimmering aqua water. I expect it will either resonate or it won’t but to me it evokes feelings of calm, light and happy memories.

A small limited and variable edition, so each print is very slightly different (and therefore unique!)

When I was exhibiting 35 North Contemporary Fine Art with Lucy Burley last year, a passer-by popped in to say that he’d just seen my print in the window and wanted to tell me that his immediate thought was “That makes me happy!”

What a lovely reaction; it made my day.

Here are a few other comments that I’ve had about my prints over the past year. The final one will no doubt be familiar to many other visual artists out there! I hear it time and time again but I don’t mind, in fact I’ve probably said the same myself, and I know it’s meant kindly. (But I do have smaller pieces available, just saying!)
