Scenes from a recent trip to Bath š
Lately Iāve been finding Instagram more frustrating than fun. The endless ads and non-chronological feed mean Iām missing most of the posts from people I actually follow, which feels a bit sad. Since I donāt take photos constantlyāmy shooting depends a lot on whether Iāve got interesting plans on weekends or free time to go outāengagement has dipped too. Thatās been disheartening, and honestly makes me feel guilty for not uploading, which in turn creates pressure to go out and shoot just for the sake of posting.
So, I decided to trial uninstalling Instagram for a couple of weeksāand it was good for me. I wasnāt mindlessly scrolling content I didnāt care about, and I didnāt feel the FOMO I thought I would. The world kept turning, and the people who wanted to reach me found other ways.
I think Iāll extend that break and see how it goes. Iāll keep my account open since Iām proud of the work Iāve shared here and want to preserve those memories, but Iāll definitely be less active and probably wonāt see or reply to messages or comments. If I create something I feel belongs here, I may reinstall to postābut otherwise Iāll mainly be sharing on Foto, which already feels like a much more focussed space with a great community of photographers.
If youāre there too, come find me: . Hopefully Iāll see some familiar faces.
Bye for now š
