Ad | Vintage aesthetic on the outside, modern essentials under the hood⚡️📸

I spent the weekend putting the new Godox Lux Junior II through its paces around the home study. While it nails that classic 1970s rangefinder look on the X100VI, this update quietly fixes the biggest practical limitations of compact retro flashes.

The articulated head now tilts and swivels, letting you bounce soft, flattering light off ceilings and walls instead of blasting harsh direct flash into every frame. Disposable batteries are finally gone in favour of internal USB-C charging, and automatic TTL metering takes the guesswork out of quick candid shots.

I took myself out on a solo photo (and video 👀) walk today for what feels like the first time in years.

Usually, shooting gets squeezed between social plans and making our way from point A to B. It was refreshing to completely slow down, wander without an agenda, and dedicate real focus to composing each frame and clip rather than grabbing shots on the move.

My favourite photos from August ☀️

August was a whirlwind month behind the lens. Between travelling across Australia, celebrations at home, testing out new gear, and picking myself up a brand-new Fujifilm X100VI, there was no shortage of inspiration - which made narrowing down my favourite shots tough!

Here’s hoping that the creative momentum carries on into autumn 🍁🍂

As promised, here are a few sample shots from testing the Godox V1 MID S during a weekend trip to the dahlia fields at Millets Farm Centre 🌸⚡️

I’ve always leaned heavily into natural light photography, but putting this compact round-head flash through its paces was a lot of fun - I’m definitely inspired to bring more punchy, direct flash into my everyday photos.

A few thousand feet over the reef! 🐠🐡🐟

These are the final frames from our trip to Australia - and the last of the graphic slides, considering the recent "AI content" tag debacle... I decided to push through with Canva one last time just to keep the Oz series consistent.

We’ve been back a little while now and settled into the usual routine, but going through these makes me nostalgic already. That said, I’ve got some fun new work in the pipeline that I'm looking forward sharing with you very soon! 📷

Scenic train rides, chasing waterfalls, spotting wallabies, and exploring beautiful farms in Cairns. A massive thank you to our hosts Alice Bishop and Matthew Bothamley for putting us up and for driving us around everywhere. Apologies again for the sudden exit when we realized we had our flight day completely wrong 😅✈️

The light on the water between Circular Quay and Manly is tough to beat. Hard to put the camera down when the ferry clears the Opera House and heads out into the open bay.
