City lights.
This year has been tough...
As a family we've battled with cancer, bereavement from covid, cancelled plans and a locked down life. It will have been hard for you too, in similar or different ways. Well done all of us. We made it this far and things will get better.
So, some things I've learned that helped...
1. Photography is a great coping mechanism and works wonders for mental health. As a parent, it has been vital to recharge. I can't be a good dad without resourcing myself. You can't run on empty. Make sure that wife of yours gets the same opportunities you do though!
2. It's easy to let IG be the judge of your worth by the reach it grants. I've found a new genre of photography that I love but it's not as popular as sunsets, waterfalls or doggies so I need to adjust my expectations, and remember that: likes != worth.
3. Your worth is not dependent on your gifts or your achievements.
4. Community is far more important than how popular your posts are.
Have an amazing New Year whatever you're doing. Mark those milestones. Take stock of the journey. Farewell 2021. I won't miss you, but it wasn't all bad. 👋
