Running a small business means that sometimes the littlest things make the BIGGEST difference. 🤍

Leaving a review. Sharing a post. Saving something you love. Commenting. Tagging me when you share your photos. Sending my name to a friend who’s just got engaged. Even just telling someone, “I know a photographer!”

None of these things cost anything, but to a small business like mine, they are HUGE.

Most of my work comes from people finding me through other lovely people, and every recommendation, review, share and little bit of support helps someone new find their way here.

So this is really just a little thank you to every client, friend, family member and random wonderful human who has ever shouted about my work, interacted with my posts or recommended me when I wasn’t even in the room.

You’re helping this little business of mine more than you probably realise. And I notice it. Always. ❤️

There was something so incredibly special about Michael and Elaine’s wedding. 🤍

A day that brought together two cultures, two families and so many beautiful traditions, all woven together in a way that felt completely and wonderfully them.

And Elaine and Michael ! Honestly, just the loveliest people. So warm, so kind and so completely present in every part of their day. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed into it all, and it was such a joy to photograph.

I loved the energy of this wedding. The traditions, the emotion, the London streets, the laughter, the families coming together and all those tiny little moments happening in between it all.
The moments you can’t plan.
The moments you almost miss.
And very often, the photographs that end up meaning the most.

Honestly, it sounds like such a cliché and such an obvious thing to say, but it’s absolutely true. Every single wedding is different.
You could have the same venue, use the same caterers, hire the same photographer, even wear the same dress or suit. But YOU are unique. And your people are unique and wonderful in their own way.
Quiet, wild, polite, energetic, emotional, chaotic. It doesn’t matter.
What truly matters is that you embrace it all. That you accept that your day is completely, wonderfully yours. One in a million simply because there will never be another one quite like it.
So take that and roll with it. Do the things that feel like you. Surround yourself with your people. Let the day unfold exactly as it’s meant to.
And don’t ever let anyone tell you that that isn’t enough. ❤️

Some random thoughts as the summer holidays come to an end.

As a self employed, wanting to juggle all the plates kinda mum, the summer holidays can sometimes feel a little overwhelming.

Keep up with client communication, shoot weddings, edit weddings, book new weddings, plan healthy meals every day, do fun stuff with the kids, have chill days with the kids so they learn what to do when they’re bored, keep the house fairly tidy, don’t neglect friends and family, keep on top of the exercise routine, plan a nice holiday... The list is honestly never ending. Just writing it all down is enough to give you anxiety.

But this time around, I chose to have a completely different perspective on it all.

Instead of feeling the weight of everything I needed to do, I fully embraced this time.

I loved every single wedding I shot and was there with my heart and soul. We had some amazing adventures with the kids, but also the most wholesome, slow days at home. I stayed on top of editing. Made it to the gym a good number of times. We planned meals and cooked together. There were busy days, boring days, exciting days and days where we did very little.

And ultimately, all I felt was SO much gratitude.

Gratitude for a life that allows me to do all of this. To have a career I love while being a mum. To be good at more than one thing. To make time for the things that matter to me. To work hard and still be there for the ordinary little moments in between.

Honestly, what a privilege.

As the summer holidays come to an end, I’m feeling incredibly lucky that we got to have this summer together.

It wasn’t perfect. I didn’t do everything. I’m sure plenty of plates were dropped along the way.

But it really did feel like a bit of a dream.

It rained ALL DAY!! But honestly, it didn’t matter one bit.

Laurel and Dave planned the most epic day for their family and friends. It had all the energy and fun of a festival, but somehow still felt incredibly classy and elegant.

And the suppliers? Absolute stars. Every single one of them brought something special to the day and helped create an atmosphere that was completely unforgettable.

Proof that you really don’t need sunshine to have the most incredible wedding day. 🤍

I absolutely love coming back to older galleries and looking through my work again.

There’s something about a little distance that makes you see things differently. Images I might have passed over at the time suddenly stop me. I notice the light differently, the composition, the tiny moments happening at the edges of the frame. Sometimes I even find new favourites that I somehow didn’t fully appreciate the first time around.

I think revisiting old work is such an important part of growing as an artist. It reminds me of where I’ve been, shows me how my eye has changed, and often gives me a clearer sense of where I want to go next.

Photography is funny like that. The photographs stay exactly the same, but we don’t. 🤍

This is what dreams are made of ✨

Before the shoot, Carys and Ash warned me: “Prepare for us to be awkward.”

Well… they were quite the opposite.

Every single thing I suggested, they were up for trying. They trusted me, went with it, laughed through it all, and we had SO much fun.

And the results? Literally magical!

A little reminder that you don’t need to know how to pose or feel completely comfortable in front of the camera. Just come as you are, be open to having a bit of fun, and trust the process.

Group photos are probably one of the least spontaneous parts of a wedding day. But I also think they’re some of the photographs that become more valuable with time.

They’re worth putting a little thought into.

The actual taking of a group photo is quick. It’s getting everyone into the same place that takes time.

Someone has disappeared to the bar. Someone else is catching up with a relative they haven’t seen in years. Uncle Bob is nowhere to be found. The next group can’t start until three people from the previous one have been swapped for four completely different people.

Multiply that by 10, 15 or 20 groups and suddenly a surprisingly big chunk of the drinks reception can disappear.

As a rough guide, I like to allow around 3 minutes per group. Sometimes it’s quicker, sometimes it takes longer, particularly with bigger groups. So if you have 15 combinations on your list, it’s worth remembering that this could easily take 45 minutes.

That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have them.

Quite the opposite.

I think group photographs are incredibly important. They’re a record of the people who were there with you at that exact moment in your lives. Parents, grandparents, siblings, childhood friends, university friends, people who may rarely all be together in the same room again.

And years from now, some of these photographs may mean far more than you could possibly realise on your wedding day.

So choose them thoughtfully.

Think about the people you really want to have a photograph with. Allow enough time for them. Keep the logistics in mind and, if you have a longer list, have a couple of people who know the guests help gather everyone together.

They don’t need to feel stiff or formal. They can be loud, chaotic, joyful and completely full of personality.

They just need a little planning.

Because while they might take a few minutes away from the party now, they could be photographs your family keeps for generations.
