Bank holiday weekend in Dorset, and oh boy you know if you’re anywhere near Swanage or Corfe Castle this week, not only could you be in the med ☀️ 🌊 😎but Purbeck Art Week has also kicked off with so many fun things to do!

“Come over for lunch, we’ll catch up”, but you’re both huge foodies.

Wild Garlic season may well be over now (I’ve seen some stragglers out here), but it has been a solid season and my freezer has a dedicated drawer of bright green gold.

From woodland forage walk to an impeccable lunch spread - the wild garlic goodies to the very reasonable levels of wine at lunch. The sun was out for at least SOME of this day 😂
Spring - you’ve done well.🌸

And what a way for the season to ease into summer! Good company makes it better still, thanks to .musgrave for all the food, ladies lunch parties are the new dinner parties.

World Cocktail Day marks the date of the first definition of a cocktail on May 13 (1806, a whopping 220th anniversary)
And yes I’ve been sitting on these stunning cocktails from this year’s shoots with until today. What better day to present “a stimulating liquor, composed of spirits of any kind, sugar, water and bitters” 🍸

The last little BTS post was helpful/interesting to some of you (thanks fans) so I thought as well as sharing a bit about what I do, it would be good to share the *why*. Same place, same vibes, just a bit brighter for the brighter seasons ☀️

Thanks for scrolling past slide three. I promise that even if I don’t do it often, I do know how to use my camera without a strobe.

Aside from the control and consistency that lets my work look the same even if it’s sunny or in the middle of the night, it’s also just an aesthetic personal preference. And sometimes a customer has already snagged the best window seat 👀

Feeling a little of what I’m calling ‘Instagram Fatigue’ — it usually leads me to other admin tasks (you know the social media juices are running thin when the spreadsheets are up to date), but this week I’ve actually been clearing out old hard drives.

While it usually pains me to delete files I know I’ll never look at again, this time I uncovered a buried shoot from two years ago that never made it anywhere. A Japanese fusion restaurant shoot; a little sushi and a bit of moody lighting.
Spruced up with a re-edit and voilà.

In amongst all the incredible submissions we’ve seen in the World Food Photography Award shortlist this morning, I’m so pleased to share that *two* images shot in collaboration with the fantastic .bruns.stylist are shortlisted in the Cake Award category!

What started with “hey, when are you free to come over, I have an idea” and a full day of play. An absolute master with the piping bag, so proud of what we have created.

Whew a whole quarter of the year has zipped by already!
Over 40 hours of shooting, some new enquiries, testing (always testing), a personal project packaged and parceled, tonnes of prop hunting, meeting and getting to hang out with some fellow creatives, a brand new branding shoot - and obviously a little room for some of fun stuff that *isn’t* work (don’t forget what it’s all for).

Thank you to every client and collaborator who made the first few months what they were! You’re the best.
