Whitsun half term (week commencing Saturday 23rd May) is honestly one of the best times of the year for a Bude visit:

1. The weather is (usually!) at its best balance and the clifftops are alive with colour - just look at the photos! Cornwall in late May often hits that early-summer sweet spot: warmer, sunnier, and much less unpredictable than April.

2. The sea is warming up. It’s still brisk, but by late May the Atlantic is noticeably more swimmable than earlier in spring. If you’re into surfing, Crooklets and Summerleaze beaches tend to have great conditions without the peak-season chaos.

3. Fewer crowds than summer holidays. This is a biggy! You get the benefits of good weather without the shoulder-to-shoulder crowds you’ll sometimes find in August.

4. Everything is open—but not overwhelmed. By Whitsun, Cornwall is fully open for the tourist season. Everywhere is open and running full hours — but staff aren’t yet stretched to peak-season limits, so your experience is more relaxed.

5. Longer days means more time to explore. You’re close to the longest days of the year, which means loads of daylight for beach time, cliff walks, and late dinners overlooking the sea. Take the 10-minute stroll down to the beach to watch some awesome sunsets!

Spring sunshine - but bloomin' chilly!!

The sun is out, the schools are on holiday and Bude is looking fabulous! It really is a joy when spring arrives after a long (and very wet) winter. The next three months really is when Cornwall looks at its very best. At the time of writing we have three spring weeks remaining at the Beach Haven: April 25th, May 2nd and May 23rd (Whit half term) if you want to treat yourself to a lovely holiday in Cornwall?
