Last July we took the drone to Devon & Cornwall, and this was a nice view of Torquay Harbour/Marina from just beyond the harbour wall!

For today's 'View from Above', we take a look at what, for me, has been an ever present building in Burnley, the former Lucas Electrical factory on Widow Hill Rd.

When I worked at BEP (Burnley Engineering Products) in the 1980's/1990's, I passed this building, nestled in the trees, twice a day on may way to and from work.

Now a shell and on the day we flew over (6/4/2026) the building was being cleared inside, maybe for another use or maybe for demolition.

The building goes unnoticed now as the site is shrouded by trees.

How many Burnley people worked here? Lots I guess.

For today's 'View from Above' we look towards Stoneyholme from just behind the Wiseman Street Mill chimney.

Front and centre is the railway viaduct with Burnley College & ASDA behind it.

In the distance is Stoneyolme and the factories/industrial units on Elm Street.

Beyond that is Burnley General Hospital, and you can make out the two former BooHoo warehouses to the right. And to the left the M65 makes its way from Burnley towards Nelson & Colne.

For today’s ‘View from Above’ we took the drone about 30m above St James’ Street looking towards the Keirby Higel (or whatever it will be called when the refurbishments are completed.

In the centre is a scaffold clad Keirby Hotel with the St Peter’s Centre to the left.

To the right of the Keirby you can make out Turf Moor and also the former Safeways building they is now occupied by Calico

On St James’ St is the block that has Althams and The Boot (Spoons).

It does look nice and clean and not too busy when we took this photo!
