VACANCY: Towneley Hall, Burnley - volunteer co-ordinator (14.5 hours per week; temporary until 31/12/25)
Help manage and develop the team of volunteers who help look after this historic hall, art gallery and museum.
This is a new part-time post which will be part-funded by Art Fund through the Reimagine grants programme.
The postholder will be responsible for delivering a two-year project that will develop and coordinate a dynamic programme of
listening, learning and creative activity with both Towneley Hall staff and volunteers.
The role will develop partnerships to create opportunities for volunteers and enable the recruitment, training and support of new volunteers.
You will be responsible for developing and diversifying the volunteer offer at Towneley Hall with a focus on young people and embedding youth voice into volunteering and the wider visitor offer.
You will maintain volunteer motivation and develop their skills through the coordination of a programme of learning whilst the hall undergoes major restoration works and help build the team ready for full opening in 2025.
It is a requirement that you have GCSEs at level 5/C or above (or equivalent) in English and maths. It is essential you have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire, motivate and engage a diverse range of people and can build new relationships and have the ability to work collaboratively.
Knowledge of, and interest in, the arts, culture or heritage sector and experience of volunteer management and working with young people are also essential as is having experience of developing and delivering related programmes and activities.
Some flexible working will be required including working weekends and evenings as required.
