Happy Halloween!

It's not all rainbows and butterflies in the wild, but in death there is life, and believe me, nothing went to waste.

If you go down to the woods today... 🌳 🐻

Waiting patiently in the vast forests of Slovenia, muffled calls of woodland birds echo through the trees. It’s a place of anticipation, silence, and slow revelation. Patience is key in these forests where time stands still and Europe’s largest predator roams.

I recently had the pleasure of guiding guests into the heart of Slovenia's wilderness. With Sony's flagship Alpha 1 mark ii paired with the FE 200-600 F5.6-6.3 G, I was able to capture some truly magical moments.

You can read more about my time in Slovenia and experience using Sony's Alpha 1 mark ii by heading to Penda's most recent blog:

All images were taken by me except for the final portrait taken by the talented

Me trying to find the nearest ice cream in Europe's current heatwave 🥵

Europe is breaking temperature records again — something that’s happening year after year.

These extremes aren’t normal. They’re one of many signs that our planet’s climate is shifting fast — with serious consequences for people, wildlife, and ecosystems around the world.

We can’t afford to treat this like the new normal. It’s not.

It's all about the light.

Just as the sun peaked over the horizon we came across a pride of lions who had preyed upon a mother and young wildebeest the night before. They were feeding leisurely in the tall grass and as she raised her head briefly between feeds the light caught her breath.

A beautifully atnospheric back-lit scene.

Fortune doesn't always favour the brave.

This Zebra was the first brave soul to take the plunge across the torent Mara river to pave the way for the others. As she made her way across the river she went down briefly as a monster croc grasped onto it's hind quarters at which point I thought it was all over.

After what felt like a lifetime her head resurfaced as she continued to make her way across to the other side. I was routing for her and was so happy to see her reach the other side only to see the fatal gash as she emerged from the turbulent waters.

The blood gushed from her leg as she was left dazed and confused while the other Zebra dispersed with the smell and sight of blood.

I don't know what followed however I imagine it was a slow and painful death - let's hope that thelions put her out of her misery.

Life and death on the great plains.

Can't wait to get back out there and see what other dramas unfold.
