Well the summer break took longer than expected, it wasn't so much a holiday as an operation for a shoulder problem and recovery. It was a bigger operation than expected but the recovery is going well.
There is bigger news than this and I am pleased to announce that Jeffrey Fairbank is now part of Classic V and will be handling the day to day running. For those of you that don't know him Jeffrey is also a fully qualified Hasselblad technician and part of the Hasselblad UK service team

Classic V is closed for a summer break from 24th August for two weeks. I won't be able to accept any new work from tomorrow (17th August) until early September.

Happy New Year to new Hasselblad owners, it seems that a number of people have recently been lucky recipients of a classic camera as a Christmas present or recently inherited one.
I get asked why the old focus mounts as much stiffer than new ones. Old lens designs would have conventional helical screw threads and would rely of the visconsity of the grease to take up the play that an unlubricated mount would have and to provide that silky feel. Modern mounts tend to have square cut threads and slip rings with smaller surface area or with AF lenses there may be no threads at all, instead cams and nylon bearings.
In the picture is a focus mount on the C40mm lens showing the fine threads.

I have just discovered a friend of mine has this number plate. Maybe if this is taken I could get TRI 120 X

This is a Hasselblad accessory that you dont see often. A PC Mutar, shown here in it's raised position. Basically it is a 1.4 Zeiss teleconverter that increases the image area of lenses so it can be shifted up or down to correct converging verticle lines. A great bit of kit that is very small and will fit in the pocket of a camera bag. If you want one of these contact the Pro Centre in London. +44 2077298822.
