Thinking about your next overseas photo adventure? Here's five reasons to visit India with World In Focus.

1 Iconic India, perfectly timed
Taj Mahal at sunset, Pushkar Camel Fair chaos, blue Jodhpur, golden Jaisalmer — always in the best light.

2 Real photography tuition, in the field
Learn street, portrait, colour, composition, and storytelling as you shoot — not in a classroom.

3 Access to unforgettable moments
Camel traders, pilgrims, holy men, markets, forts, and rituals across Delhi, Pushkar, Jaipur, Jodhpur & Jaisalmer.

4 Small group, personal guidance
Hands-on help, live demos, and one-to-one feedback tailored to your camera and skill level.

5 Come home with powerful images
Not snapshots — a strong portfolio and the confidence to photograph anywhere.

There’s a certain kind of magic in silhouettes, moments where light and shape do all the storytelling.

From the glow of dusk in faraway lands to the quiet fields at home, simplicity can reveal the emotion and essence that colour sometimes hides.

By exposing for the brightest part of the scene, detail fades and mood takes over, letting the connection between light and subject shine through.

We’ve shared a few techniques for creating powerful silhouettes on the blog:

We’re always so grateful when our course participants share their experiences, especially when they’ve been part of our journey for many years.

Phil recently joined us again for a landscape photography course in the Peak District, exploring mainly field techniques along with some black-and-white processing in Lightroom Classic.

He’s been learning with Simon for many years now and even attended our Nepal tour back in 2010, and it’s a joy to see his skills and passion continue to evolve.

Thank you, Phil (and Carole), for your continued support 📸

The Peak District has a mood all of its own.

One minute it’s glowing with golden light, the next it’s wrapped in mist and shadow — but that’s what makes it so special to photograph.

Every image in this reel was taken here, each one capturing a different feeling, a different kind of light.

This is Peak District Moods.

A collection of black and white images from sacred places across Asia, where light, silence and faith intertwine.

In monochrome, the colour falls away and what’s left is essence. The essence of devotion, stillness and humanity.

These are places that ask us to pause, to see beyond the surface, and to feel the weight of history and spirit in every frame.

Four seasons in a day! Yesterday’s course gave us everything from sunshine to thunder and hail.

It’s days like this that remind us photography is as much about resilience (and waterproofs) as it is about light.

A huge well done to everyone who braved the elements.
The weather didn’t stop us, it made it!

Some moments don’t need words, just light.
That perfect balance of warmth, stillness and life that makes you stop, breathe and see.

Captured in the heart of the Peak District, this is why we love photographing close to home (literally this is over the garden wall), because beauty isn’t far away; it’s right in front of us, waiting for the right light.

There’s something timeless about black and white photography and the way it strips away distraction and lets the emotion of a moment speak for itself.

From the markets of Nepal to the deserts of Rajasthan, our overseas tours are filled with scenes that lend themselves beautifully to monochrome storytelling.

If you love the art of black and white, we’ve shared some of our favourite tips here:

The light changes fast out here, one moment the sky is cool and flat, and the next it’s alive with warmth. This bull wandered into the frame just as the sun broke through the clouds and for a few seconds, everything aligned. Moments like these remind us why understanding light is everything in photography.

It was a real pleasure speaking at Ashbourne Camera Club recently.

We’re always inspired by the enthusiasm of photographers who want to refine their craft, share ideas, and experiment with new ways of seeing the world.

Hearing feedback like this reminds us why we love doing what we do- helping others capture images with imagination, confidence and purpose.
