You do NOT need a £2,000 camera to start learning photography.

I went looking for three second-hand cameras you can get for around £200.

One I'd buy.

One I'd consider.

And one I wouldn't buy if family photography was my goal.

Nikon D3300 vs Canon EOS 100D vs Panasonic FZ200

The point isn't to find the camera with the longest specification list.
Buy the camera that helps you learn what you actually want to photograph.

Autumn light really is something else.

It is soft, warm and golden, wrapping everything in that gorgeous glow you simply do not get at any other time of year. Even an ordinary patch of grass can look completely magical.

Add in the rich colours of the leaves and that low evening sun, and you have the perfect setting for photographs that feel warm, calm and full of life.

The last few weeks have been busy is a wonderful way so I thought I would share an update

Four school photoshoots ready for September. Pre-prom evenings full of excited teenagers. Creating fresh content for my Social Media Content Club. Writing SEO blogs for photographers. Building an online Pilates course and all the marketing that goes with it. Working behind the scenes on something new for photographers that I'm looking forward to sharing soon.

Away from work, we've celebrated two 50th birthdays, enjoyed time away with friends, cheered on the end of GCSEs, kept up with photos from our son as he continues travelling, and I've been working hard to stay consistent with training three times a week.

It's easy to feel like you're not getting much done until you stop and look back.

I'm incredibly grateful that my job lets me photograph families, schools and businesses, while also helping other photographers grow theirs. Every week looks different, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Thank you to everyone who's trusted me to capture your memories or work alongside you over the past few weeks. I never take it for granted.

🚶‍♀️ Completing Race Across London for one of my best friend's birthdays and discovering parts of the City I'd somehow never visited

🍷 Celebrating turning 50 with old friends

🌏 Following my son's backpacking adventures through Japan, Thailand and Vietnam and quietly realising his photography skills are getting rather good

📚 Printing endless GCSE past papers and discovering that Year 10 maths is considerably harder when you're the parent

When I look at it all written down, it's no wonder the month disappeared so quickly.

I'm incredibly grateful that my work allows me to jump between photography, training, marketing, mentoring and some genuinely fascinating projects, while still making time for the people who matter most.

Heres to next months family and school shoots, pre prom planning, my husbands 50th and week in the sun :-)
