Hungarian Hind displaying at RIAT 2022 🇭🇺🚁

There are some aircraft you can recognise instantly, and the Hind is definitely one of them.

The distinctive shape, the sound and the sheer presence of this helicopter make it such a memorable sight whenever it appears at an airshow.

Caught in some beautiful golden light — one of those moments where the conditions just make an already impressive sight even better.

You really can't beat seeing a Typhoon heading skyward! 🔥

One of those moments from RIAT 2022 that you can't help but smile at!

The Chinook lifting onto two wheels before reversing back along the runway. Because apparently landing normally just wasn't enough… 😂

Sunday Family Archives

Another delve into the family archives, and this week we've got a proper collection of Cold War-era aircraft.

Looking through photos like these really does make you appreciate just how much variety there used to be at airshows. Different generations of aircraft, different air forces and some seriously distinctive shapes all sharing the same skies.

It's funny because at the time, I'm sure seeing aircraft like these at an airshow just felt normal. Looking back now, you realise just how lucky we were to have such a variety on the circuit.

And it does make you wonder… how many of these would we see flying at an airshow today?

Swedish C-130 Hercules on approach to RIAT 2024.

A look back at this Swedish Hercules coming in to land ahead of RIAT 2024, ready to take its place in the static park.

The C-130 is such a recognisable aircraft and always a welcome sight at an airshow. There’s just something about a Herc!

Hawker Hunter at RIAT 2022

There’s something about a Hunter in a special paint scheme, and this blue, white and gold-striped finish certainly catches the eye.

Operated by Hawker Hunter Aviation, this is one of those aircraft that always seems to stand out wherever it appears.

A beautiful classic and a great addition to the RIAT 2022 skies.

F-22 Raptors departing RAF Fairford 🇺🇸✈️

A look back at last month as the F-22 Raptors headed out from RAF Fairford.

There’s something about seeing a Raptor in the air that never gets old, but that distinctive sound as they power away is something else entirely!

Always a special sight when these appear over Fairford.

Douglas A-4N Skyhawk at RIAT 2022

One of those aircraft that always catches your eye. The A-4 Skyhawk might be small compared with many of the other jets at RIAT, but it certainly has plenty of character and a fascinating history behind it.

This one was operated by Top Aces and was a great addition to the RIAT 2022 lineup.

Swedish Gripen at RIAT 2024 🇸🇪✈️

One of those aircraft that always seems to be popular with the airshow crowd. The Gripen has such a distinctive look and, when it takes to the sky, it certainly doesn't disappoint!

A great aircraft to have back at RIAT and always a pleasure to watch.
