“A Citizen & Stationer … of London”
Really enjoyed becoming a Freeman of the City of London yesterday. Rumour has it I can drive sheep across a bridge into the City of London now 🐑 👀.
A tradition with origins stretching back centuries, the Freedom represents a connection to the historic fabric of the City itself. As a reminder of London’s enduring role as a centre of trade, civic life, and tradition, it carries with it echoes of a time when the rights and responsibilities of citizenship were closely tied to the life of the City.
To be admitted today is to become a small part of that long and evolving story, one shaped by generations who have contributed to London’s identity and global influence.
I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to be included in that lineage, and mindful of the history and meaning it represents.
