Stepping inside Ely Cathedral your eyes will be drawn the full length of the building towards the east window; a little further in your gaze will unstoppably be drawn aloft to the lantern - built 1322-13 - in awe and wonder!

Shooting the breeze … photographer style, on your own having conversations with yourself. The subject matter starts off with what catches the eye, what you immediately see; it wonders about what you can’t see that might await around the corner; it wanders and dreams in unfettered ways imagining possibilities; it transforms in response to what the senses and emotions evoke; yet you remain focused endeavouring to compose and capture the essence of what was first seen; adjusting the interplay between shutter speed, aperture, focal length.
It’s a personal thing, a subjective point of view, that photographers love to share. It’s often at moments like this, being on my own, that I long to magic my family to be with [momentarily 😬] to share my experience with them. Truly, whilst a photograph might be worth a thousand words, they very rarely entirely speak for themselves!

Here, the ‘thinking grounds’ by the River Cam, near Grantchester, on a fabulously breezy day. What initially caught my eye was the movement in the Willows and the ever changing shades of green. Then the strength of the wind - health, clearing the mind. The awesome beauty of the natural world we inhabit - wondering why humanity is in such a mess.

Unruffled!
I love this wild, fresh and breezy weather, provided the chill factor is not freezing cold!
But with all that’s going on above with the willows, reeds and rushes, the swan seems beautifully at ease, unruffled.
