Fujifilm has just announced the XF400mmF4.5 R LM OIS WR for the X Series. It gives a 609mm full-frame-equivalent field of view, weighs about 1,245g and offers 5.5 stops of optical stabilisation.

That is serious wildlife and sports reach without going straight to a huge full-frame super-telephoto. Would you take the lighter prime, or still want the flexibility of a zoom?

Caira has just added a genuinely interesting AI twist to mirrorless cameras: generative video editing that starts only from footage you actually shot.

The new tools can relight, reframe, simulate camera movement and extend a scene. There is no text-to-video, originals stay untouched, and AI results are marked with Google SynthID. Camera Intelligence says it is the first mirrorless system to build this kind of generative video editing into the workflow.

Private beta is open now, with Caira Studio due this autumn in the UK and US. Clever evolution — or too much AI between photographer and final image?

Sony’s A7 V has just been named EISA Camera of the Year 2026–2027. Awards do not automatically make a camera right for everyone, but this one is an interesting sign of where hybrid bodies are heading: faster shooting, smarter subject recognition and increasingly serious video in one body.

Did anyone get up early enough to photograph this morning’s lunar eclipse?

Across the UK, the partial eclipse peaked at 5:12am BST, with about 94% of the Moon covered at maximum. It was one of those mornings where the alarm clock became part of the camera kit.

If you photographed it, we’d love to see what you got — camera or phone, polished edit or straight out of camera.

And if you missed it, no shame. 5am is brutal.
