Watching the Sun set last night near Middle Beach.

Just had to share this photo I got last night with my phone of some people and their dogs also enjoying the setting Sun.

Tonights Full Worm Moon Rising up over the horizon.

We had been hoping to see it rise from the very Southern tip of the Isle of Arran, but unfortunately there was some very thick haze off in the distance, so we couldn't quite get the photograph that we were after.

The first photo is around 7 minutes after the Moon started to rise. The second one around 13 minutes after Moon rise. And lastly, the third photograph around 17 minutes after Moon Rise. The lighthouse that you can see on the bottom right, flashing away is Pladda Lighthouse.

If you have any sort of interest in Astonomy or Night Sky Photography, feel free to join our group, Stargazing in Kintyre & Gigha, we also meet on the 3rd Friday of the Month too, at the Campbeltown Picture House.

The sunset on Friday afternoon, taken from Dunavertay.

The sun and clouds casting wonderful Crepuscular Rays in the distance, infant of the Northern Ireland coastline. This was 5 minutes before a heavy hail storm arrived.

This a a 2 shot image "HDR" technique used once again. One image for the bright sunset, and another used for the dark foreground. Without doing this, and only taking a photograph, exposing for the sunset, the foreground would have been completely black. Using the HDR result, is much more like what you could see with your own eyes, which the camera could not do in one shot.

Tonights "Wolf" Moon rising up into the North Eastern sky here in Kintyre.

First image, taken from Peninver, looking across the bay and onwards towards the Isle of Arran, with the Moon peeking out of the low lying clouds as a dog and dog walker enjoy their walk on the beach.

Second Image, taken from Campbeltown, looking towards some of the fishing boats in Campbeltown Harbour, with the Moon rising up from behind Knockscalbert. This is a "HDR" blend of 3 images, to help with exposing for the foreground, as it was much darker, compared to the Moon being really bright, high up in the sky. Not something that I typically do, however, it was needed for this shot. (Not AI!)

A few quick snaps of the Aurora Borealis tonight (12/12/2025). Taken from Machrihanish, just outside of Campbeltown.

Photo details:
14mm
F1.8
10 second exposure
ISO between 1,600 and 4,000

I have captured enough to make a TimeLapse video out of all the photos, hopefully I will manage to get to it soon, but just thought I would share 4 quick photos, including one with a meteor from the Gemini Meteor Shower above the Aurora.

A couple of photographs of the night sky, from last night at Saddell Bay, overlooking the recently renovated Saddell Castle.

Witnessing some wonderfully clear skies, after what feels like weeks and weeks of cloud and rain. I also saw the International Space Station go by, and that is the large line that you can see in the first image.

8 Different photographs are used in the first image, with the lines from the reflection off the Sun onto the International Space Station, stitched together to show it passing from one side to the other. I also saw a small meteor, and that is what you can see gliding down towards the Galactic Core of the Milky Way.

Each photo in this composite image is shot on a 12mm lens, at 25 seconds exposure, with a 2 second gap between photos, hence why you can see a small gap between the line of the ISS. Also, f2.8 aperture and 12,800 ISO.

The 2nd image, now shot in vertical, and with a 20mm lens, at F1.8 aperture, and 15 second exposure at 5,000 ISO.

There was also some very faint airglow, which is causing some of the slightly green colour in the sky, and then some very light and thin clouds were around. I thought with my 12mm lens, I had left enough room to do some to straightening of the castle and make it appear more vertical, but I never, hence why it looks like it is sitting squint from my very wide angle lens, and it being in the corner and not centred.

A great start to the night sky photo season. Here is a photo from a Timelapse of the Milky Way Galactic Core rising high above Machrihanish last night, taken from Westport Beach.

All of the small faint white lines that you can see through the sky in the image are not shooting stars or meteors, but are in fact small satellites orbiting above Earth.

Hoping for more clear skies until next summer šŸ¤žšŸ“·šŸŒŒšŸ˜€

Camera settings:
20mm,
8 second exposure,
f1.8 aperture,
ISO 3200.

Sorry for the wind noise on the camera, I never planned on taking a video, was just going to do photos but changed my mind last minute, and never had a mic with me.

Closing ā€¼ļø

Hi everyone, would just like to let everyone know that I will be closing and will therefore not be doing any more photo or video work. I will also be closing Campbeltown Photo Printing as well at the end of this week.

Not an easy decision to make, it have been considering it since the end of last year, but due to working full time, mental and physical load and an increase in prices, it is simply not viable for me to continue.
Also a few other reasons which I’m not going to post on here.

I would like to thank everyone for the support over the past few years, and hope some of you continue continue to follow the page as I will be returning to just taking photos as a hobby. Primarily timelapse and night sky photos.

Will also have various bits of equipment for sale, if there is any interest, please let me know or share with anyone who may be interested and I will get a proper list written up later on. Will also be looking to sell my a2 photo printer as well.

Cheers, Greg.
