LNER Azuma 800 105 departs Carlisle on diesel power across the twisting route down to the Tyne Valley Line which will take it home to Newcastle.
Seen here during September 2025 when the fleet were diverted via Carlise due to engineering work between Newcastle and Edinburgh on their home ECML.
Im looking forward to their next visit to Carlisle later this month.

The LSL Saphos Lakelander departing Whitehaven.
60532 Blue Peter lead 47593 Galloway Princess with 57311 The Institution Of Mechanical Engineers on the rear along the widing coastline into the station.
Here they paused their journey to collect the token from the platform based token box to gain possession of the single track section between Whitehaven and St Bees.
This video was filmed before the Whitehaven ( Bransty ) to Corkicle Tunnel was closed for the ongoing engineering work.

One of Sir Nigel Gresley's masterpieces of design & engineering departing the Citadel. Ex LNER A4 60007 named after the great man. She may not be charging up the east coast with a passenger express service between Edinburgh & London any longer but she's still an impressive sight as she passes by. Seen here departing Carlisle with a Saphos Lakelander charter on 11/03/26.

Two beautifuy turned out locomotives on the 125 Groups Citadel Circle.
The charter left Carlisle on its return journey to Manchester Victoria lead by 43025 Exeter with 43159 Rio Warrior on the rear.

D213/40013 Andania and D1924/ 47810 Crewe Diesel Depot with the Saphos Fellsman at Carlisle. 05/08/26.
The charter was diesel hauled due to the network wide steam ban. Perhaps conditions will be more favourable for a steam loco to make an appearance on the September Fellsman before its 2026 season ends.
