Yesterday I spent the afternoon at the Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria's Children's Hospice event at The Greenhill Hotel, and it genuinely left a lasting impression on me.
Having previously taken photos at Jigsaw, I’d already had a glimpse of the incredible support they provide to families in our community. The staff, the bright and colourful décor, and the overall atmosphere create such an uplifting environment. It’s clear to see just how life changing their work is for so many families
Hearing updates from Chief Executive Julie Clayton and the panel brought home the true scale of what both Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw do day in, day out to support families through some of the most difficult times imaginable.
One thing that really stood out were the figures shared (originally highlighted by Rebecca Bird 😊 ): over the last 12 months, Eden Valley Hospice has provided 2,214 days of care, while Jigsaw has delivered 761 days and 422 nights of care. Remarkably, 330 of those nights were funded directly by the business community.
I know times are challenging for many right now, but if you can, it’s well worth reaching out to see how you might support them. As Julie mentioned, even small contributions, like joining their weekly lottery can make a real difference.
