I’m excited to announce the launch of our Drone Pilot Training Summer Scheme 2026, starting Saturday 11th April (weather permitting) 🌤️

At Drone Pilot Training Academy, Carryduff, we’re passionate about inspiring the next generation through hands-on STEM learning and real-world drone skills.

Led by a fully qualified, AccessNI & DBS-vetted instructor and Flight Assessor, this training is designed to be:

Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to build confidence, this is the perfect way to get started in drone flying.

What makes this different?

A massive congratulations to Rosemarie, a talented professional photographer who travelled down from Londonderry & spent her day at the Drone Pilot Training Academy in Carryduff to officially add aerial services to her business!

To ensure she provides the highest quality for her clients, Rosemarie chose to invest in the DJI Air 3S, which she purchased directly from the Academy through our unique Beginner Drone Pilot Training program. By training with Robert Dobbin—Northern Ireland’s top qualified 3iC Drone Pilot Instructor and Assessor—she has gained the professional edge needed to fly safely and legally.
Here is a look at the comprehensive structured training Rosemarie completed today to master her new DJI Air3S:
Arrival & Welcome: Rosemarie met her instructor Robert Dobbin, received a safety overview, and checked the local weather conditions to ensure a safe training environment.

Presentation & Safety Briefing: She mastered the fundamentals, including the UK Drone Code, legal requirements for CAA registration (Operator & Flyer IDs), and identifying where it is safe to fly.

DJI flight Simulator Session: To build muscle memory in a risk-free environment, she spent an 2 hours on the DJI Flight Simulator before taking to the skies.
Drone Setup & Pre/Post-Flight Checks: She learned the essential technicalities of her DJI Air 3S, including safe setup, calibration, and configuring GPS and Return-to-Home functions.

Practical Flight Training: In this core 90-minute session, Rosemarie practiced precision take-offs and landings, hovering, and orientation. She also handled real-world scenarios, such as emergency landing and air incursion simulations, to ensure she can avoid common beginner mistakes and crashes.

Having tested the performance and features during her session, Rosemarie officially added the DJI Air 3S to her professional toolkit with the confidence that she knows exactly how to handle it.
