How can we make sure we draw the viewer's eye to the right part of the photo straight away? It requires using specific visual tools - sharpness, tonal contrast, leading lines, and colour - to command immediate attention. When you understand how these mechanics work, you can stop people from scanning across the photo and lock them onto your subject instantly.

Have you ever explored the concept of the unseen narrative in fine art photography?
It’s a wonderful visual storytelling technique where you use subtle clues inside the frame - an abandoned object or a single light - to hint at a much bigger world happening just out of shot.
This turns the image into a bit of a mystery, creating a sense of artistic anticipation where the viewer's imagination finishes the story.
It’s a topic we got quite deeply into during Episode 302 of the live weekly photography podcast.
