A first glimpse of the surfaces of The Length of a Moment in the studio.
The three sculptures are cast in bronze and painted using a specially developed misting process, giving their surfaces a painterly, stone-like quality. Their tones of lilac, mint green and pale dove blue reference wildflowers while retaining a deliberately artificial quality. Where sunlight catches the surfaces, glimpses of bronze suggest a lightness despite their weight.
Alexandra Daisy Ginsberg’s first sculpture commission will be revealed at Canalside Park, Oxford North, on 16 September 2026.
Commissioned by Thomas White Oxford, the development company of St John’s College, and delivered with Contemporary Art Society *Consultancy, The Length of a Moment is the latest permanent artwork in Oxford North’s public art programme, following Olafur Eliasson’s Your planetary assembly in 2025.
From 16 September, the sculptures will be freely accessible to everyone visiting Canalside Park.
