A first glimpse of the surfaces of The Length of a Moment in the studio.⁠

The three sculptures are cast in bronze and painted using a specially developed misting process, giving their surfaces a painterly, stone-like quality. Their tones of lilac, mint green and pale dove blue reference wildflowers while retaining a deliberately artificial quality. Where sunlight catches the surfaces, glimpses of bronze suggest a lightness despite their weight.⁠

Alexandra Daisy Ginsberg’s first sculpture commission will be revealed at Canalside Park, Oxford North, on 16 September 2026.⁠

Commissioned by Thomas White Oxford, the development company of St John’s College, and delivered with Contemporary Art Society *Consultancy, The Length of a Moment is the latest permanent artwork in Oxford North’s public art programme, following Olafur Eliasson’s Your planetary assembly in 2025.⁠

From 16 September, the sculptures will be freely accessible to everyone visiting Canalside Park.⁠

SCULPTORS’ DRAWINGS AND PRINTS | Until 1 October

Prolific and experimental British artist Jeff Lowe hand-prints his monotypes in his studio in Faversham, Kent. For these works, Lowe uses cut brass plates, similar to the shapes found in his sculptures, which are coated with acrylic paint and carefully hand-pressed onto paper in layers. The shapes build up a sense of sculptural form across the two-dimensional surface, with colour used to distinguish and articulate each form.

At their core, these works are constructions, remaining architectural in spirit while translating Lowe’s sculptural language into print.

LYNN CHADWICK AT HOUGHTON HALL
Until the 4th October

We have had the privilege of curating a major retrospective of Lynn Chadwick’s work in the house and grounds of the beautiful Neo-Palladian Houghton Hall in Norfolk.

Spanning four decades of Chadwick’s working career this is the largest exhibition of his sculpture since his exhibition at Tate Britain in 2003. Including a wide range of works from an early mobile from 1952 right through to his last major piece it is a summer must-see!

We are delighted to welcome Sussex-based figurative sculptor Victoria Atkinson to Sculpture Source.

Pictured here, ‘Osmond’ reflects Vicki’s interest in the figure as an emblematic presence rather than a portrait. Cast in bronze, the elongated proportions, folded planes and rough surface give the work a quiet authority, balanced by a sense of vulnerability.

Vicki often draws on archetypes and myth, using simplified gesture and stance to suggest identity and inner life. In ‘Osmond’, character emerges through form and bearing rather than literal detail, giving the sculpture a timeless, contemplative quality.

Back at this weekend for a press tour and still enthralled by Lynn Chadwick’s stunning ‘Ace of Diamonds’ which looks so at home on the main lawn moving gracefully in the brisk Norfolk breeze.

‘Ace of Diamonds’ was the last work Lynn Chadwick made and at over 6m wide is also his largest. It originated as a 1m proposal for a memorial commission for the Fleet Air Arm of the Royal Navy which Chadwick served under during the Second World War.

Unfortunately it was too contemporary for the commission but Chadwick persevered and spent the next ten years bringing it to fruition.

My video was slightly wobbly so here is the wonderful version!
