"What makes you different from other brand photographers?"

It's a question I get asked quite a lot.

And the answer isn't my camera.
It isn't my studio.
And it definitely isn't because I know some secret posing trick.

The truth is, what makes me different is that I don't just create pretty photos.

I create images that help you market your business, attract the right clients, and actually get used rather than sitting forgotten in a folder on your laptop.

You know that friend who tells you you've got spinach stuck in your teeth before you walk into a meeting?

That's me on a photoshoot.

Except instead of spinach, I'm checking:
✨ Necklace clasps that have spun round
✨ Crooked rings
✨ Bra straps
✨ Flyaway hairs
✨ Twisted clothing
✨ Wonky collars
✨ Glasses sitting unevenly
✨ Strange background distractions
✨ Lamp posts growing out of people's heads

The little things matter.

Because once you've noticed them in a photograph, you can't unsee them.
Years of being a photographer have trained me to spot details most people would never notice, and I'm constantly scanning every image before I press the shutter.

My clients often laugh because I'll stop mid-conversation and suddenly launch myself across the room to straighten a necklace.

But those tiny details are often the difference between an image looking polished and professional, or slightly "off."

You focus on being amazing at what you do.
I'll worry about the wonky necklace clasp.

Stop thinking of your brand shoot as a photoshoot.

It's not.
It's a marketing tool.

These photos aren't for your mum's mantelpiece or to sit looking pretty in a folder on your computer. They're there to help you market your business, attract your ideal clients, build trust and showcase what you do.

Every image should be working for you.

Helping potential clients connect with you before they've even picked up the phone, sent an enquiry or booked a discovery call.

I know you don't like having your photo taken. Believe me, you're not alone. Most of my clients say exactly the same thing.

But brand photography isn't about vanity.
It's about visibility.

If people don't know who you are, what you do or why they should choose you, you're making it harder for your marketing to do its job.

Your photos are often the first impression people get of your business.
Make them count.

Migraines can get in the bloody bin!!

All this week I've been battling them.

Yesterday's was especially horrible and completely wiped me out. I spent most of the day in bed with the curtains shut, feeling sorry for myself.

The annoying thing is, since hitting perimenopause they've become much more frequent, but over the last few months things seemed to be improving. Then this week happened 😭

I do have migraine medication from the doctors on repeat prescription, but if you're a fellow migraine sufferer you'll know it's a bit hit and miss.
Sometimes it works brilliantly. Other times it may as well be a Tic Tac.

So I'm throwing this one out to the hive mind...
What are your best migraine relief tips and tricks?

Supplements?
Ice packs?
Magic crystals? (You know I'm willing to try those 😂)
Sacrificing a small goat to the migraine gods?

Hit me with your recommendations because I'd quite like my head back.

It’s June already 😳

I realised I’ve gained lots of new followers recently, so I thought it was time for a proper introduction.

I’m Lyn, and contrary to popular belief, I don’t spend all day taking photos of people smiling at laptops 😂

You’re running a business… but avoiding photos because you don’t recognise yourself anymore.

Maybe menopause has hit your confidence.
Maybe you’re exhausted.
Maybe your body feels different.
Maybe you look at photos of yourself and immediately pick apart every single thing you hate.

So instead… you hide.

You use old photos.
Crop yourself out.
Post graphics instead of your face.
Avoid updating your website.
Put off booking the shoot “until you feel better/confident/lose weight.”

I hear this ALL the time.

And honestly?

It makes me sad how many brilliant women in business are making themselves invisible because they think they have to look a certain way before they deserve to be seen.

You don’t.
Your clients are not looking for perfect.
They’re looking for real.
Warmth.
Trust.
Connection.
Someone they feel comfortable buying from.

And that’s exactly what good brand photography should do.

Not make you look like somebody else.
Not make you look fake.
Just help you look like YOU on your best day.

And for the record… almost every woman who steps in front of my camera tells me:
“I hate having my photo taken.”

You’re running a business…
but avoiding photos because you don’t recognise yourself anymore.

And honestly?
That can feel really hard.

Because it’s not just about “having your photo taken.”
It’s looking at pictures of yourself and thinking:
“When did I start looking so tired?”
“Why don’t I feel like me anymore?”
“Is that really what everyone else sees?”

Perimenopause and menopause can knock your confidence in ways nobody really prepares you for.
Your body changes.
